Yes, I Am Blind Lyrics

Yes, I am blind
No, I can't see
The good things
Just the bad things, oh...

Yes, I am blind
No, I can't see
There must be something
Horribly wrong with me ?

God, come down
If you're really there
Well, you're the one who claims to care

Love's young dream
I'm the one who shopped you
I'm the one who stopped you
'Cause in my sorry way I love you
Love's young dream
Are you sorry
For what you've done ?
Well, you're not the only one
And in my sorry way I love you

Yes, I am blind
But I do see
Evil people prosper
Over the likes of you and me
ALWAYS

God, come down
If you're really there
Well, you're the one who claims to care

Little lamb
On a hill
Run fast if you can
Good Christians, they want to kill you
And your life has not even begun !
You're just like me, you're just like me
Oh, your life has not even begun !
You're just like me, you're just like me
And your life has not even begun !
You're just like me, just like me
And your life has not even begun !
You're just like me, you're just like, just like me
And your life has not even begun !

I take this to be about his struggle to accept the hypocrisy of Christianity and those who call themselves Christians who think that it's OK to murder animals, and innocent baby animals/little lambs. It's about his struggle to see the good in these people and in a world which condones this type of brutality against the innocent.

It's about a queer person. It's about fighting with homosexual feelings. It's about the depression brought to you by your homosexuality on the heterosexual world. Morrissey is also a queer person. He has always been vague about his sexuality. He identifies himself as "humasexual" and this song is another great example of the inspiration coming to him from his homosexualiy. Homosexuals had always been one of the centers of hate crime. Many Christian/Muslim/Jew etc murdered homosexual people because of their sexuality. Christians want to kill this person because of this person is unique and not ordinary basically. Because their belief told them to do so. So Morrissey suggest this person to run away from them and he repeats "You're just like, you're just like...".

This song was co-written by Andy Rourke.

It's about someone who is blind to the good things in life, and therefore believes that there is something wrong with this person. It's hard to always be the one who's not laughing and joking around like all the other people, so the person ask god for help. The person doesn't really believe in god: "if you're really there", but is so desperate for help, for someone who claims to care about all people in the world. I think that the little lamb refers to someone being very innocent, vulnerable and shy and the good christians is all the other people in the world who is getting this help from god. And this person (the lamb) is very young, but also has a hard time seeing the good things in life so therefore he's/she's just like the fist person. But that's just how I see it...

I read somewhere that this song is about Andy Rourke.

I haven't heard that, but that is intriguing, this is a very personal song for me, I kinda thought it was just about being a pessimist and the pain that you bring on yourself, but then they value of that pessimism is reasserted by the end. Moz is a lyrical genius!!

It's basically about somebody how is told to 'look on the bright side of life' and can't. He sarcastically puts down the person who told him to do so, then in his mind asks God how CAN he look on the bright side when so many bad things happen in life?

Well I never, well pointed out Boss Man.

I remember reading that this sounds very similar to a song Morrissey covers but I can't remember what it's called, anyone help?

Amazing song. histionics at the end make me envision morrissey at his modt dramatic. flinging aside the microphone in sorrow and walking backstage as the band plays out the rest..a very personal song.

I think this song is about only seeing things as black or white, good or bad.

"God come down.....youre the one who claims to care" --not getting everything you want or something goes wrong, instead of thinking that maybe its meant to be, you just assume God doesn't care.

"Little lamb....wanna kill you" --Only seeing killing a lamb as cruel, instead of seeing it as a traditional sacrifice in the eyes of the church. But then again Morrissey never really did agree with the church.

This is just how I see it, as only seeing things in life from one perspective.
