Complications followed us on clear lines. We tried to push forward but we're still behind hard times. As we watched it unfold, the roads were long, we still trudged on. The sun was strong but we held on. Blood lung was beat and so were we, but as we drove away we thought of those days and what made them. Thanks to the people who cared enough to take us in, put us up, give us hope, let us know we're not alone. Thanks to the people who shared and helped us feel intact to come back, shake it off, and ride to rock again.
It's a lesson I didn't mind learning the hard way.

To the best of my knowledge, this is one of the first HWM songs that acknowledges their association with the Richmond, VA punk scene (they became friends with bands like Avail, Inquisition, Ann Baretta, etc). The song title refers to the heart of the punk scene at that time, West Grace Street. The consequence of these friendships on the band and their music would end up being significant. Richmond's scene was already steeped in influence from DC, adding their own take on the PMA philosophy as rationale/in recognition of Richmond's well known racist history and economic disparity (and its related social issues). The philosophy's core concepts of unity, personal responsibility, and positivity would subsequently play a very large role in HWM going fwd, e.g. particularly No Division, A Flight and a Crash, and Caution.
I can't believe noone commented on this song. The meaning is pretty obvious, but the lyrics are amazing and the music is as well. This is one of the typical HWM songs about the power of friendship and how it can help you get through anything. Everytime I hear this music I can't help what great persons these guys must be.
