Actually, I don't think this song has anything to do with self mutilation. I think it's how he feels about life.. Constantly trying to achieve all the dreams he's set for himself inside his head. Cutting out people who are bad for him, or anyone who doubts his capabilities. "Fuck all the human waste" The people who wasted their lives.. and do nothing to benefit the world.
He's inflicted emotional pain on himself, learned how to detach.. to protect himself from so that he can attain all the things he hopes for.. and when he finds it.. He has to "heal".. To learn how to be happy, learn how to love.. learn how to trust people again.
