Eyes Of A Child, Part 1 Lyrics
Listen, hear the sound,
The child awakes.
Wonder all around,
The child awakes.
Now, in his life,
He never must be lost;
No thoughts must deceive him,
In life he must trust.
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child you will see.
Earth falls far away,
New life awaits.
Time it has no day,
New life awaits.
Here is your dream
And now how does it feel?
No words will go with you,
And now what is real?
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child you will see.
The child awakes.
Wonder all around,
The child awakes.
Now, in his life,
He never must be lost;
No thoughts must deceive him,
In life he must trust.
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child you will see.
New life awaits.
Time it has no day,
New life awaits.
Here is your dream
And now how does it feel?
No words will go with you,
And now what is real?
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child you will see.

To me this song's about viewing the world through the eyes of a child, as a life filled with hope and eternal love. It's about appreciating how everything is so beautiful underneath all the barriers of reality:
Earth falls far away, New life awaits. Time it has no day, New life awaits. Here is your dream And now how does it feel? No words will go with you, And now what is real?
In the absence of everything, what is left? Love and hope. The same love and hope seen through the eyes of a child before they grow up, before their vision becomes callous and jaded and they lose sight of the marvel that is their life.
I agree with live2daygone2morrow, and would add that this song was written during the Moodies heyday of experimenting with hallucinogens, Eastern spirituality, meditation, etc. Back in those days (and I was there), many folks believed expanding consciousness in this way would bring back a child-like innocence that would allow us to see the world anew. This song was written by John Lodge back when he was doing a lot of writing with Mike Pinder (Pinder was the Moodies' "guru" and I speculate their LSD supplier as well), which is further evidence for my interpretation.
Your interpitation of every song as a result of drug induced hallucination tells more about your self than the songs.

I esp. like the "intentional" mispronounciation in the last stanza-"Now what is real" (i.e. the present moment)
apart from the dreamy world of the lyrics, the possibility of ultimate clarity if you open your eyes with a child's eyes and when you be able to, then u 'll see the unity of all conscious, a one big spirit who comprises all humans, thinking they really exist by themselves, in a clarity moment they are all one entity apart from that, this song could be the best of human outcomes ever, in terms of profoundness and beauty of the tones
who gives a shit?
