No Restrictions Lyrics

Give me no restrictions on what I do or say
Don't speak of tomorrow when it's still today
Leave me to my selfish ways, I'm well enough alone
That is what I tell myself as I stumble home
Derelict across the street in the garbage bin
Looks like he's found something neat judging by his grin
Such a long long way to go, hope I get there soon
Wish I could jump a great height and land in my front room

Whoa-oh-oh-Whoa-oh-oh

Wake up in the morning make sure I'm still alive
Percolate the coffee opens up my eyes
Hear the cricket calling switch on the TV
Sit and stare for hours and cheer Dennis Lillee

Whoa-oh-oh-Whoa-oh-oh

Through the de-restriction zone we pass a long wide load
Laugh at the reflections of cat's eyes on the road
Freeways hypnotize me, up up and away
Hope we make it home tonight
Be that as it may

Whoa-oh-oh-Whoa-oh-oh

I'm not sure if this is at all accurate so if you'd like to help, please do.

So to me, it seems like it has Lebowski-esque lyrics. Being lazy, and being happy with it.

(Don't Speak of Tomorrow, when it's still today) (Leave me to my selfish ways, I'm well enough alone/That is what I tell myself when I stumble home) (Sit and stare for hours, and cheer Dennis Lillee)

Stuff like that tells me that this song is giving no restrictions, but it doesn't matter. He's not going to break any of the previous restrictions. Its a good song, but these lyrics are weird.

Funny. I always imagined this song to be about a guy walking drunkenly home and then dealing with the hangover. It professes an assertive attitude ("I'm well enough alone") but sarcastically downplays this "That is what I tell myself as I stumble home". During this nightly walk he sees a homeless person and then continues on, given he is drunk, a long remaining journey. Fast forward next morning, he sits and stares for hours as he's dealing with a hangover.

This is a guy recounting his night out binge drinking. The first verse is while he's out. He's getting more and more drunk, and doesn't want to worry about the consequences the next day. (Don't speak of tomorrow, when it's still today.) He then drunkenly stumbles home, noticing a homeless guy rummaging through the garbage, and finally just wishing he could just get home already. (I wish I could just a great height, and land in my front room.)

The second verse finds him waking up in the morning with a hangover. He make some coffee and all he can do is sit and watch cricket all day.

The final verse finds him out again, this time driving on one of the de-restricted roads(like the autobahn, where there is no speed limit), talking about what they're passing (we pass a long wide load and laugh at the reflection of cats eyes on the road). Again, he's being a bit reckless, and hopes they don't get into an accident. (I hope we make it home tonight).

Basically, a song about going out for the night and not worrying about what will happen later.
