i think this song is about loss of innocence, not sure why but its always given that messege to me!
Hmm...I always heard it as 'in a dark WELL', which incidentally makes no sense. That's what it really sounds like, though.
I absolutely love this song...it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I agree with ladybug about the loss of innocence, in a way, it just seems to present to me a feeling of abject hopelessness and despair.
