My Heart Lyrics
Not so long ago
We both felt love became a word
No more than that
With sex that felt like wings without a bird
The only thing that we both love
Is in the cradle that we rock
Six hands, six feet, but just one beat
The ticking of the clock
I always heard I could get hurt
(I knew that from the start)
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
Solid wood will rot
If you don't keep it from the rain
We were surprised when we found out
That love feels just like pain
I always heard I could get hurt
I knew that from the start
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
We both felt love became a word
No more than that
With sex that felt like wings without a bird
Is in the cradle that we rock
Six hands, six feet, but just one beat
The ticking of the clock
(I knew that from the start)
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
If you don't keep it from the rain
We were surprised when we found out
That love feels just like pain
I knew that from the start
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart
Break my face, my back, my arms, my neck
But please don't break my heart

"love feels just like pain"... great line
What a heart breaking song.. The pain in the heart is the worst kind to be felt... it shows how dependent we can become for one person, and how it can devastate us when they fall apart
It means so much to me, because it's how I feel alot of the time. It's about a couple, they've probibly been together a while, but...things aren't perfect. They love eachother, but because of the way they are they're learning that they can't be together. The ticking of the clock refers to how their relationship is inevitably running out of time, but neither one wnts to amke the move to go because they really do love eachother, and it would break their heart. They can't be together, but they can't face being apart, and that's devastating....
This song shows you that our hearts are our most prized possesions and they are the only thing that guides us through our lives....are hearts make us feel, so without a heart we would not understand love and the true meaning of life....so she's saying physical pain is nothing compared to emotional pain*
This song just shrieks of the silence of a dead relationship. Love is gone, sex is pointless, they're together for the child. And yet, making it "official" is so painful that it would be easier to have a broken body than a broken heart.
Oof, this song is so intense for me. I had an ex who called this "our song" as I think he gravely misunderstood it, but it was a bit of a "Freudian slip" situation because even though it didn't mean what he thought it did, it was definitely an appropriate song for the relationship (minus the child [thank God]).
