Ignorance pulls
Apostasy and apathy still rules
Yeah you know it's cool
Just suck and see
A future turns us into silent gods
And I won't miss you at all
Grounded
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
Fate can't decide
Alignment of the planets in your hands
Come on crush our plans
Just suck and see
A future that won't let you disagree
And I won't miss you at all
Grounded
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
Feel it, hear it, right apathy you are,
see it, be it, you'll see
Apostasy and apathy still rules
Yeah you know it's cool
Just suck and see
A future turns us into silent gods
And I won't miss you at all
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
Alignment of the planets in your hands
Come on crush our plans
Just suck and see
A future that won't let you disagree
And I won't miss you at all
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
see it, be it, you'll see

Futurism - A belief that the meaning of life and one's personal fulfillment lie in the future and not in the present or past. Maybe this is Matt writing about how he has abandoned the christian faith, and saying about how it is so restraining and worthless, and that he can acheive a final heavenly state without putting himself under this restraint. Maybe I'm thinking too deeply... or not deep enough.
Loved your post. Definitely to do with his belief in something (if you look at the word Apostasy). But I think he means if people continue with their apathy and belief is something which they don't really act on, we are in for a dystopian future. He's actually done quite a few with this theme. The whole last album was basically about that. But this song really brings it out.

What I odn't understand is the part where he says 'evil in our veins', would make more sense if he said 'evil in our brains'?

Mumford and Sons has a similar thoughts. Song is called 'roll away your stone'. Obviously not as political,, but more from the point of view from a normal guy feeling what we all feel and inspiring himself to make it better, but fails ultimately

These lyrics are incorrect.
Come wait and see = Just suck and see Like the evil in your head = Like the evil in your veins Just wait and see = Just suck and see (again, come on, that's the clearest lyric in the song!) Feeling feeling everything = Feel it, hear it, apathy Feeling feeling everything = See it, be it, you'll see
Those are taken from Musewiki, and I believe them to be pretty accurate.
How you make your own future. That you don't have to be controlled by a religion in the present.
Being brilliant and being stuck with the mediocre - at least for the time being. Knowing you deserve more but unable to get it. Biding your time to escape with a bang.
apparently matt's singing about a "possible dystopian future" where their is a totalitarian state where your thoughts are controlled and stuff, kinda 1984 type stuff. i love it. Also, the lyric is actually "like the evil in your veins", its my favourite bit
listen to it carefully, its definatly "veins"
I love this song ^__^

"The Illuminati" and the "New World Order"...
Is it just me, or does this song heavily conjure up images of robots working on an assembly line?
