This is actually a cover of "Wrong Embryo" by the Rulers. The Clash changed the lyrics a bit though, and cranked up the tempo. man, ska is great, isn't it? Unity.

Stagger Lee is a famous 'legend' retold in lots of blues and jazz songs. Each artist has their own take on the story. For example Nick Cave has a dark song called 'Stagger Lee' where Stagger goes to a pub, shoots a barman, leaves with a woman, and then shoots her husband who happens to be this 'Bill' guy.
I don't know all the small details, but apparently it's roughly based on a true story. Look it up. It's quite interesting.
