Je N'en Connais Pas La Fin Lyrics
i used to know a little square
so long ago, when i was small
all summer long it had a fair
wonderful fair with swings and all
i used to love my little fair
and at the close of every day
i could be found, dancing around
a merry-go that used to play
ah, mon amour
a toi toujours
dans tes grands yeux
rien que nous deux
all summer long my little fair
made everyday like a holiday
night after night it used to play
and people came there from so far away
and everyone sang that little tune
all around town you heard it played
even pepi from napoli
he sang to marie
this serenade
ah, mon amour
a toi toujours
dans tes grands yeux
rien que nous deux

this song is on the "live at sin e" cd. Its incredible
This song is nothing short of enchanting, one of those very rare songs that are able to convey an image of a location or a period solely on the basis of air and melody, off the top of my head I can only think of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and Clannad's Harry's Game. It's incredible to think that a song like this was only included as a Bside. Took an age to learn this on the guitar but these days its the first tune I play every time I pick it up. Had a tape of a gig a couple of years ago where he breaks into a song called if you love me. Guy was a legend. Robbed we were.
Gorgeous song -- and very French in its gentle wistful nostalgia, even when Jeff Buckley sings it in English. I will never miss an opportunity to say it again: Jeff you are missed!
translation: Title- I Do Not Know The End
ah, my love with you always in your large eyes nothing but the two of us
translation almost right... the second sentence is wrong though : it's "all yours forever" and not "WITH you always".
The song is just magnific !!! It's an Edith Piaf song (i think) who was a French singer after World War II, she was a very good artist and i just love what she sang.
sorry about the bad translation. yes, this is an Edith Piaf song. edith piaf is very excellent.
Has anyone heard the live version of this song? It's sandwiched inbetween "Hallelujah." I think, that performance, is the most beautiful creation an artist has ever made. After this part of the song he going into additional lyrics that are just breaktaking. You should check it out; it's on one of the discs in the B-sides and singles box set.
So true, it's such a good one. I think the title translates more as I'll never hear the end of it. But literally it does translate to I do not know the end
This is my all time favorite song. It just makes me feel so many feelings that I don't even know what they are. Although this song is about a fair the entire time, I don't interpret it that way at all. With Jeff Buckley's version, I just feel this sort of reminisce - not necessarily a small little fair, but maybe a person. Kind of like the song In My Life by the Beatles (another one of my favorites). It's just, oh my god, so beautiful.
