Jewel Box Lyrics

i know you're a woman by the way you burn below
i'll tell you secrets so good, you'll never tell a soul
come closer, that bonfire holds his life like stones
my years, my life unknown

diamonds from the pavement broken glass had been.
just like these troubles that i'm leaving to the wind.
like sapphires in boxcars speeding towards the end.
like thieves, my bad luck grows.

jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
crystallise illusion shine, forgot i'm here
jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
oh, you left some stars in my belly

star crossed child's love on the bands of wedding gold
silver studs of promise hide in red crushed velvet folds.
inaction, intention, like emeralds i stole.
my speech of custom gold. i think i ought to know.

jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tears
crystallise illusion shine, forgot i'm here
jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
oh, you left some stars in my belly.

you left some stars in my belly.

you left some stars in my belly.

I love playing this song, the lyrics are just genius and the rythm is wonderfully upbeat yet romantic and dream-like.

THe Last lines are beautiful. I can play the song too, but it's nothing compared to how awesome this song is.

One of the only demos that I think could've passed into the final album unchanged.

I LOVE this song, and I think it's up there with "Opened Once" and "Morning Theft" as most touching original songs by Jeff Buckley

One of the only demos on the second Disc*

Yeah, there are songs on the second disc that would need to be changed, but not this one.

Although, all of the songs are awesome if his sole purpose was to give his band an idea of what he wanted.

Such a beautiful song!

The lyrics in this song are so quintessential. It sounds like it could be a crap ass song in the very beginning but it ends up becoming this poignant peice of art.

And I don't know what the hell you left some stars in my belly is supposed to mean but the imagery, especially in context with the rest of the song, makes it so extremely powerful. Its what made me listen even deeper into the song. In fact I didn't even notice that the song even had mention of any jewels until 3 months after I got the CD. It reminds me of how much of a lyrical genius Jeff was. I miss him so much.

I Love the whole of the Second section of Sketches, especially after finding out the intent for "My Sweetheart The Drunk".

Michael Tighe said he described it as "Terror Music", Kind of Scary, Creepy, but with moments of Beauty, kind of a blend of the two.

Made me appreciate the songs I already loved, knowing this now, even more, like "Murder Suicide..", and "Demon John".

I absolutely adored this song from the get go, and of late thought it would sound stunning with some backing from the band.

As for "You Left Some Stars In My Belly", I read it as simply that moment when someone you are deeply into has just left your presence, but leaves such a feeling on you, like a kind of Stomach buzz, like when one is nervous, but the positive side of that. Where you Can't get them off your Mind.

They just have such an impact, one can't help but feel:

"You Left Some Stars In My Belly".

I am Obsessed with Him To a shocking degree, especially what this album would've turned out like.

You must Hear "You And I (Guitar Version)" as it seems to be called. Stunning.

LEGEND LOST.

there's references about a crow's attraction to shiny things ...stealing jewellery is the romance equivalent of stealing someone's heart, or desiring things.......yeah I'm not sure.
