In My Body Lyrics
hold silent
you were my violence stuck
in my life
just for the moment
and let me under you
so you can die
i was alive
i was alive
in my body
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
in my body
the lonely creatures
the lonely creatures scream
june's offcast
left hiding, i form the screams
burned alive
wasted sunsets
haunting my torment
right through my clothes
in my body
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
i was alive
i was alive
in my body
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
in my body
the lonely creatures
the lonely creatures scream
in my body
in my body
in my body, yeah
in my body
in my body
in my body, yeah
in my body
in my body
in my body, yeah
you were my violence stuck
in my life
just for the moment
and let me under you
so you can die
i was alive
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
in my body
the lonely creatures
the lonely creatures scream
left hiding, i form the screams
burned alive
wasted sunsets
haunting my torment
right through my clothes
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
i was alive
you'll never find me
you'll never pull me out
in my body
the lonely creatures
the lonely creatures scream
in my body
in my body, yeah
in my body
in my body, yeah
in my body
in my body, yeah

i'm not sure why but this reminds me of sexual abuse. its like the abused person is retreating back into themselves caus that is the only way they'll be safe. my favourite lines are "haunting torment right through my clothes"- its like everyone can see the fact you've been abused.
Hmm, the obvious thing i get from it is that its just about retreating into yourself when things are going the wrong way. In the context of the machina context, its about when the main character's girlfriend leaves him and he goes into this weird hermitage. I make it sound really teen angsty, but it all ends up tying into a more god oriented thing.
I love how the guitar sounds, reminds me of The Church (awesome yet criminally under-rated Australian band).
I think this song was written about going numb, shutting yourself off from the world. It's a good song
I think I agree with most of the other comments it's about hiding your personal feelings so that nobody can hurt them again.
If this is referring to the Glass and the Machines of God story (which I read about here: http://www.billycorgan.it/modernfable.asp), then here's my interpretation of it:
"Hold silent / you were my violence stuck / in my life..."
I think this part is describing June, and how she was a dark reflection of himself.
"Just for the moment / and let me under you / so you can die..."
He felt like this was what she was basically saying to him, because she told him that "she never loved him at all".
"I was alive..."
He used to be alive when she was around.
"In my body / you'll never find me / you'll never pull me out... /...the lonely creatures scream"
He has been sad, withdrawn, and lonely, ever since her death.
"June's offcast / left hiding, I form the screams / burned alive..."
He imagines the horror of the car crash that June was in.
"Wasted sunsets / haunting my torment / right through my clothes..."
He felt like he wasted every single day being depressed about it and feeling betrayed. (By that, I mean in terms of how he realizes everything in the end of the story)
I'm not so sure all of the lyrics are correct.. I always thought the beginning was "Hey, Silence/silent.. You were my violent star in my life" and the the chorus.. I always thought he said "The lonely preacher screams" which if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense pertaining to the Machina story. Even moreso if you watched the animated series, the scene where this song plays it fits very well.. very beautiful song and very fun to play on guitar. Nice use of atmosphere.
I think it's about being hurt by someone and then just going cold and always being by yourself and he's saying I was alive, but then I got hurt, now I hide. I think hiding in your body just means that you keep all your thoughts to yourself.
So dark yet so lovely
.. This is Glass' darkest point. absolutely hopeless. his regret for his dead girlfriend June is eating him alive, so he thinks, 'In my body, you'll never find me!'
