Wolf Lyrics

That was a time for falling

I knew you well.

There was no time for calling

Me when you fell.

This is a time to take cover

In a wishing well.

Summer was blowing all over me

When you fell.

Sailors can take all the breathing

Out of the sail.

I took a trip when you needed me...

When you fell,

Waters were driving me

To a deep place;

I close my eyes to see

Your sweet face.

A coke inside me,

I slept in hell...

Angels can be so deceiving

When they love you well.

Did you think you would be leaving me?

These are some lavender

In a broken shell;

They comfort me ever since the day when you fell.

When you fell,

Waters were dancing me

In a dark place,

I close my eyes to see

Your determined face,

My secret inside me

I slept in hell...

This is a time for believing

In fairy tales;

One in which you are brought back to me.

Wolf, I cried wolf.

Wolf, I cried wolf.

Wolf, I cried wolf.

This song is about Louise's cat Wolfgang who fell out of her apartment window. While he was in the vet hospital she went out on a boat trip with her then boyfriend. She got seasick and took some Dramamine and it made her go to sleep. She dreamt about Wolf, hoping he would be ok. He ended up not making it.

Really? Aw. Poor kitty...it's the worst when you lose a pet to an accident. It's easier when they're old and you have to put them to sleep.

And if you're just screwing with people, fuck you, lol.

I must say this does fit the lyrics as well or better than anything I've been able to come up with. But how could you possibly know this?

@jnnc I like your interpretation the best. You use the facts, and it sounds plausible. Thank you for making sense of the song.

Awww... "This is a time for believing. In fairy tales. One in which you are brought back to me." That line basically explains what the song is about. It's about when a relationship is over but you miss them and wish they were back, but it's not gonna happen.

Um actually I think it's about suicide.....

@Numberoneblind which lyrics point to that?

I think its about someone who's in a car accident where there car FALLS into a lake or some body of water and by the time their goodfriend or lover arrives a the scene of the accident they dive into try and save them but are too late to save them. (I took a trip when you needed me... When you fell, Waters were driving me To a deep place;) On top of that they are afraid to report the accident right away as they can't come to terms with how to deal with it, they are feeling extremely guilty for not getting there in time to save there love or friend. (I slept in hell... ) That line about lavender should read lavender flowers...these flowers were given to them by their now deceased friend or lover and are now the only remaining comfort they have. (They comfort me ever since the day when you fell. ) Very sad song indeed.

This song is unlike all other Salt songs, in my opinion. As I teen I remember listening to all Veruca Salt albums with Nina, without paying attention to the song names. Then this song would start playing and I would ask myself "what was that? Wait...lavender flowers?" . Also usually and specially in the Seattle scene, the chourus is when the song explodes. And this song has the most sweet and heavenly chorus I ever heard. I only wish it could be a bit longer to enjoy more all the angels floating nearby.

Memory

The song is about the fall of Lucifer from heaven.
