Holocaust (Alex Chilton cover) Lyrics
Your eyes are almost dead
can't get out of bed
And you can't sleep
You're sitting down to dress
and you're a mess
You look in the mirror
You look in your eyes
Then you realize
Everybody goes
leaving those
who fall behind
Everybody goes
as far as they can
They don't just care
They stood on the stairs
Laughing at your airs
Your mother's dead
She said
"Don't be afraid"
Your mother's dead
You're on your own
She's in her bed
Everybody goes
Leaving those
Who fall behind
Everybody goes
As far as they can
They don't just care
You're a wasted face
you're a sad-eyed lie
You're a holocaust
can't get out of bed
And you can't sleep
and you're a mess
You look in the mirror
Then you realize
leaving those
who fall behind
as far as they can
They don't just care
Laughing at your airs
She said
"Don't be afraid"
You're on your own
She's in her bed
Leaving those
Who fall behind
As far as they can
They don't just care
you're a sad-eyed lie
You're a holocaust

about somebody who as a brake down?? one of those song that if you listen to when your down can bring tears forward
Well, I listen to this song a lot because it feels so personal... It's like having anxiety attacks that become so constant and controlling, and so you just want to lose everything because everybody else seems to be losing you.
"Your mother's dead / she said / don't be afraid"
That line resembles those optimistic thoughts that you try to receive whilst in your state of crappiness, but the perishing of everything else just twists optimism into something really fake so that you can't get out of it... you're a wasted mass of waste, even if it was your fault, or everything else helped carry it further.
Everybody goes leaving those who fall behind
Everybody goes as far as they can They don't just care --This is kinda true, cuz lets be honest,it happens alot u will be left with ur mind .i like this song ,especially the line youre a holocaust-kinda to me: ur someting terrible,ur just a mess,a disgusting thing, sick in the head, negative, unable to do things right, cold, trapped within urself.
originally done by Big Star and is on their third release called "Sister Lovers" Also might find it under Alex Chilton. Although I'm a big fan of Big Star and Alex Chilton this cover blows the original away. The guy from Placebo has an awesome voice. This is seriously the saddest song I've ever heard, number 2 on that list is Goodbye by Plankeye.
Brian Molko has the perfect voice for a song of this nature. Both the song and his voice are beautiful yet depressing and this song makes you appreciate the people and things around you so much more.
This Mortal Coil also did a great cover of this song in the late 80s.
So depressing...all I have to say
wow. i love this song. i'mso glad i have the limited edition of sleeping with ghosts with all the covers.
In my song hes singing: You're on your own She's in your head
instead of: You're on your own She's in her bed
i heard this song on odeo.com and i was like wow,i am a fan of placebo myself i know every single song of them but i felt ignorant that i didnt know this song,it must be some of that unrelased or cover stuff, and the song is kinda really depressing, even when you feel happy this song is enoough to put some sorrow in your heart maybe that s because it makes you think once again how harsh and unforgiving the life is,how you are not happy with the way life it is or has been. yeah ''everyone leaves you behing and they just dont care''and knowing this and persevering happiness is almost impossible, sometimes we forget about this fact and feel that everything is allright when it is not indeed
