Thought I Was Lyrics
I'm not the way
I thought I was
It was starting to feel like the worst of times
I've got to choose sides
Am I wicked?
Am I right?
Or am I just reacting all the time?
I'm not the way
I thought i was.
I was starting to see all the worst in life
I've got to lose sight
Of their pompous, boring lies
I was starting to think i couldn't fight
I've got to fight
Just not in the way I once thought right
I thought I was
It was starting to feel like the worst of times
I've got to choose sides
Am I right?
Or am I just reacting all the time?
I thought i was.
I've got to lose sight
Of their pompous, boring lies
I've got to fight
Just not in the way I once thought right

this is probably my favorite rainermaria song... it kinda got me through a lot of rough times.. especially during 9/11 when my politics were being attacked and this song definitely said exactly how i felt.
I can't tell what I think.... musically I think - 80s retro indie pop-rock.... but the lyrics are irresistable. It's a very empowering song for anyone who's going through a rough time trying to figure out what to do.
The quote, I forget who said it, "when we think that we are thinking we are really just reorganizing our prejudices". Examination of our lives is typically painful at best, ultimately necessary. Then the elation of revelation leaves one warmly content. Both sides of that endless paradox!
Anyone know what the spoken part says?
I second the call for the spoken part. I think I hear 'history' and 'death sentences'.
love the spoken word
