Blue Skies Lyrics
Blue skies over my head
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
Ain't got no money, cubards are bare
No cigarettes and the kids got nothing to wear
She walked out without a word
Now the only sound left is the morning bird singing
Blue skies over my head
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
Blue skies over my head
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
Give me another woman to take her place
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
No cigarettes and the kids got nothing to wear
She walked out without a word
Now the only sound left is the morning bird singing
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
Give me another reason to get out of bed
And blue skies shine on my face
Give me another woman to take her place
Give me another woman to take her place

This is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard by Tom Waits, and I've heard quite a few by now. The way he sings it, the way he plays the guitar, the way it is recorded... awesome.
A well-played, heartfelt song from the Early Years album Vol. 2.
Another great version is the wonderfully orchestrated piece on the "Tales from the Underground" album. Check that one out on YouTube.
Here is the second verse from the ladder version:
"That woman stuck by through thick and through thin, I was cold and hungry when she smiled and let me in, But she wanted those fine things and those nights on the town, Well it looks to me, like she let me down"
I love this song. It's by far one of my most favorite tracks by him. It's so simple and heartfelt.
