Paper Cuts Lyrics

When I feel tired
She pushed food through the door
I go to the crack of light
Sometimes I can't find my way
Newspapers spread around
Soaking all that they can
A cleaning is due again
A good hosing down

The lady whom I feel maternal love for
Cannot look me in the eyes
But I see hers and they are blue
And they cock and twist and masturbate

I said so
I said so
I said so
Nirvana, nirvana, nirvana, nirvana

Black windows of paint
I scratched with my nails
I see others just like me
Why do they not try to escape?
They bring out the older ones
They point in my way
They come with a flash of light
And take my family away

And very later I had learned to
Accept some friends of ridicule
My whole existence is for your amusement
And that is why I'm here with you!
To take me with your own
Nirvana, nirvana, nirvana, nirvana
Nirvana, nirvana, nirvana, nirvana

Hi, i think Kurt used the story of the kids to explain about life and Buddhisim. Buddhist say that this life is full of pain and desires, and the way to stop the pain is enlightment, Nirvana. When he sings "I see others just like me Why do they not try to escape?" it seems to me that he is talking about the ignorance(not to insult anybody) of the people that are not trying to reach the Nirvana. About "She pushes food through the door" i think its got to do with the tempations that Buddha sufered when he was meditating to reach the Nirvana. "My whole existence is for your amusement" seems to me that he is regreting God in that line. Another thing i have noticed, is that when he sings "Nirvana" for the first time, his voice is filled with anger, but the next times he sings it, he goes calmer and calmer. its like his anger goes down when he says "Nirvana". Its like a mantra of his own. This is just my opinion. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM

Your right Buzz, Kurt heard this story from this guy who always hung around one of the dealers Kurt always went to to get his "fix". It cause quite a stir in Aberdeen.

Yes, the kid(s) were locked in a room, and were barely fed, and they had only newspapers to go to the bathroom in. They were treated like animals, and finally clawed their way out. terrible.

@NoseDragon Mental. Could you send a link or story about this? I know Im like 13 years late, but I always knew most of the words from every Bleach song, but Paper Cuts had me stumped. Recently I checked them out and was blown away by the lyrics. My first thought was that he was telling a story from the point of view of a bred animal thats up for sale. Kurt used to have a turtle and said he liked his f%$k you attitude, he did love animals, so I presumed it was a backyard animal breeder. Who knows...

well this song would definetly be about some kid who used to have the same dealer as kurt back in aberdeen washington. his parents locked him (and a sister i think) in a room as a means of torture. they covered up the windows with black paper and they had a pile of newspapers to shit on. there was a slit beneath the door where the parents could shove food into daily for the kids to eat. im not sure if the kids clawed there way out or if the parents just go found out by neighbors or passers-by. but the cops thru their parents in jail, and these kids have no parents and live with other people after that. the sad part, i think, is that he turned to drugs and had the same dealer as kurt. theres also "overtones" of kurts relationshup with his mother. the song title is about how much things can suck, just like paper cuts.

i like the interpretation on why its called paper cuts.

your the first person to actually do that

That's right, but the first line is "At my feeding time." The relationship with the mother was also based on his own with his mother, Wendy

i think there's is a link between the line "And very later I have learned to Accept some friends of ridicule " and in Lithium: "i'm so happy coz today i found my friends, they're in my head"

Cool, never thought of it that way.

Pretty sure aeroled was explaining that Bleach came out before Nevermind, thus the fame/Nevermind theory was inaccurate. You hole.

rolling stone said "they come with the flashing lights and take my..." refers to Kurt being an alien. they said all greats are aliens from space. fuck me. it's not even about him. then they referred to the line "when i was an alien, cultures weren't opinions" from nevermind. rolling stone sucks, so does spin. give blender a read, good mag so far.

this song is not about the media dumbasses. 1989 was before nevermind. in case you dont know, 1991 was when nevermind was released, after that was when the media started harrassing kurt and his family.
