To me, when I hear this song I picture the scene from the movie. Syd was lying on a couch with a cigarette and the people busted in and took him away. The chorus is suppose to be Syd and the verses are the doctor. The music to me seems peacefull, and has a eurphoric feeling. I think he wrote the words to make Syd seem innocent and ignorant, like how he felt when he was a child.
It is about drugs, Syd had taken mushrooms once and became permanently effected by it. Syd was completely brain dead on the chair from the shrooms. |

Lol, exgirlfriends suck. He used to perform this song on his acoustic on the sidewalk to make money. He never really wrote the lyrics down, just sang randomly. He finally wrote them down on the tour, 10 minutes before performing. Fred wanted to do a song with him, and Aaron says what about this one. It was the first recording ever. The considered putting it on the second album, but decided not to. Fred does have an amazing voice, in my opinion better then aarons. Too bad he only uses it on one or two songs per cd. This song is about kids with cancer, and kurt and courtney's Heart shaped boxes they used to collect. He locked himself in a big walk-in closet to write this song. He was in there for two days.
i think that courtney being born a cancer is definately intresting, and I may look into that. But it may just be one of those "tupac isn't dead" things. Kurt was very involved with kids that had cancer, and felt really bad for them.

The first thousand times i heard this song, i thought it had a sexual meaning, rape or something. Then after reading the lyrics and hearing the song another ten thousand times, i made a new decision.
It is about a small town "going bad", and the boy who goes to get his haircut gets raped and killed buy everyone in the room. He names the people after characters from the andy griffith show.
