Catamaran (Yawning Man cover) Lyrics
Smooth stones beneath/behind me.
Cool air surrounds,
soft and savoury.
You can take me to god
No it doesn't take your will
to set your brace on me.
I never doubt your possibilities.
Please let go of my sleeve
Cool air surrounds,
soft and savoury.
You can take me to god
to set your brace on me.
I never doubt your possibilities.
Please let go of my sleeve

I think it's the narrator's lack of fear of being taken off in death. He doesn't see the need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the afterlife he's willing to go. From the other theme's of Kyuss I can deduce it's basically his acceptance og the cycle of life and death and that death isn't something to fear but to accept. He's lived life on earth, wherever he goes next he will go, there is no use worrying.
Basically it about a guy who's happy and willing, but some is being overly insistent. If they simply stopped and let go, he'd go with what they want.
Brilliant. I concur.
You can't really talk about kyuss' other themes for this one. It's a cover of a Yawning Man song. Though I agree with the interpretation.
The second time around it's cold air not cool air
Awesome!
My Fav Kyuss song. Gotta love the contrast between the relaxed verses and explosive chouses.
No idea what its about though.
I also heard that this was a Yawning Man song, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing their work unfortunately, but they were described by Kyuss as the greatest band they'd ever seen, as well as most inspirational... thats a pretty positive review from one of the greatest and most inspirational bands that I know.
I love the guitar in the verse and the contrast of the chorus.
Alkomon, what the hell.
I think, maybe, just maybe, hes saying he has his own spirituality in nature, the smooth stones, the cool air... thats how he feels God. He doesn't need the trappings of religion to "brace" him or impose God's "will" on him, he doesn't doubt the power of God or the universe, so leave him the hell alone.
Also or some reason the version i got was tagged "Catanarav". is that just typos? "catamaran"... i dont understand the connection with the title at all.
yeah it is a yawning man song & i suggest that you get some of there stuff, NOW & yeah catanarav is a horrible typo haha

Life is good as it is. Why change it?
And yeah, I agree, the contrast between the mellow and heavy parts is really nice, one of my fav songs, especially the mellow part.
Everything I've heard from Yawning Man has been instrumental, Kyuss may have just coverdd the instrumental and stuck words to it. But idk. Does anyone know if there's any Yawning Man songs with vocals?
This song most definitely had lyrics before Kyuss covered it. Though I wanna say the only instance of Yawning Man having recorded it was just as a rough demo.

@BigCheese Yeah this is a Yawning Man song through and through. Lyrics and all. Yawning Mans version is sweet, as is Kyuss version. Kyuss puts a better spin on it imo. The vocals are better. Seductive, trance, mellow.
