Hence the song's subtitle: "It's His Voice On The Radio"
I think Frank is poking fun at the Doors here. This reminds me of "You're Lost Little Girl" off the Doors album, Strange Days. It would be, presumably, how high school girls are supposed to hear that song.
It sadly depicts some of those American Teenage Girls in 1967, alienated by their parents because of their lack of understanding about the new rock n roll culture and too pimply for the high school hotshots they are in love with.
They dream of running away to the glamour and exciting happenings in and around Height Asbury and being a part of the fashionable Hippie scene.
Some of these girls actually did run away to Height Asbury and fell under the spell of an evil conning chancer like Charles Manson and fell into oblivion. Some other's on the other hand hung out in the park for a week or so, drop a bit of acid, got laid and returned home when the money ran out......
