I think someone he loves has gone and he wakes up each day because he knows that would be what hislover wanted, but he is still mourning because he sees her everywhere he goes. I'm not sure but thats what I see
Yeah it could be either his life has no meaning because his lover has died and he lives each day because he knew thats what she would have wanted.
OR it could be he has no more love for his wife and she reflects him because he knows she feels the same
