A Song To Sing Lyrics
Goodbye, four-leaf clovers
Hello gone awry
Don't cry; the fight ain't over
Unless you let it pass you by
[Chorus]
I'm looking for a song to sing
Looking for a friend to borrow
I'm looking for my radio
So I might find a heart to follow
I've never been just longing for your loving
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
Oh, you've been thinking of me
All that I have found in reason
Is reason just to not believe
And all that you are left is treason
It's treason just to let it be
[Chorus]
I'm looking for a song to sing
Looking for a friend to borrow
I'm looking for my radio
So I might find a heart to follow
I've never been just longing for your loving
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
So maybe you've been thinking of
These blue yonder dreams and secondhand shoes
You're so far gone that you're left to lose
It's too late to go home all alone
You're the tar in that old cigar
And the worn-out cable on a cable car and
And you're too tired to admit you've gotta choose
[Chorus]
I've never been just longing for your loving
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
So maybe you've been thinking of me
Hello gone awry
Don't cry; the fight ain't over
Unless you let it pass you by
I'm looking for a song to sing
Looking for a friend to borrow
I'm looking for my radio
So I might find a heart to follow
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
Oh, you've been thinking of me
Is reason just to not believe
And all that you are left is treason
It's treason just to let it be
Looking for a friend to borrow
I'm looking for my radio
So I might find a heart to follow
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
So maybe you've been thinking of
You're so far gone that you're left to lose
It's too late to go home all alone
You're the tar in that old cigar
And the worn-out cable on a cable car and
And you're too tired to admit you've gotta choose
I've never been just wearing down to nothing
I've never been just looking for a reason
So maybe you've been thinking of me
So maybe you've been thinking of me

My dad was shot in the face 6 times. This song was a go to with Tequila. Now, I look back without a vice, and this song is still so powerful to me. For me, it's about not having anything or anyone to help you overcome the things that happen. "I'm looking for my radio," is powerful in that he's grasping for something that reminds him of anything before that day. We all have different lengths of grief, but your peace will come my friend.
this is a beautiful song. I think it really shows how hanson grew up from "Middle of Nowhere" to "This Time Around" (yeah, I'm a fan)
I love the whole concept "I'm looking for my radio so I might find a heart to follow." I think that's a principle songmeanings.net operates on: we look to lyrics to show us the way a lot of times.
This song is about wanting to grab onto something, wanting to care about something, then possibly finding it but not knowing if it's the right something.
sigh it's just so beautiful...
This song is so beautiful and sad. And true. I agree with catherineks, it definitely does show Hanson's maturity. They are extremely talented. =)
I so have to agree with catherineks. I love all music, and this song is one of my personal faves, although I haven't listened to it in forever. Oh Well.
my all time fave hanson song
A very deep, complex song. Don't know what else to say about it. I also really like the 'looking for my radio so I might find a heart to follow' part, as well as the extra 'glassy surface' line. sigh So sad..
'Goodbye four-leaf clovers/Hello gone awry'
:\ Yep.
'Don't cry the fight ain't over/Unless you let it pass you by'
So true, so true..
definitely one of their strongest songs lyrically, and taylor rips your heart out with the vocals. it's breathtaking.
this is one of the prettiest songs ever and it has such meaning. it's just so good
it's a song about regret, and about not letting important things go away. the first time i heard it, i cried. i know what this is like, and taylor just makes your heart break.
