No comments?? This song is so very sweet, but at the same time, sad and regretful. Taylor's voice may have soul, but Isaac's has tenderness and heart. The first line used to give me a chill when it got to 'And the thunder rolls these crashing seas/Like a tender kiss holds its heart in me'.
Love is a complex thing.. if it weren't, there wouldn't be so many songs about it. :P You don't always have direction, and there's no 'book of love' to guide you, no matter how much one might wish for one and thought there must be one. But it's always worth trying for, lest you miss your chance and regret it forever. Taking chances means heartbreak and pain sometimes, though, of course.. sometimes you 'love wrong' but it doesn't mean that it's gone forever.
That's what this song is saying.. very, very good song. One of my favorites.

This was one of those songs that the first time I heard it, it kind of threw me off. Not because it doesn't sound like most of Hanson's music or because it's bad, just because it wasn't really what I was expecting.
With that said, it's not bad. I love Ike's voice in it. He sings with such depth, it's hard not to like it. The lyrics are a bit week at some points, in particular, the chorus. It sounds good, but I think that with all their talent, they could have done a bit better.
The message behind the song is pretty clear, though. Basically, in the words of someone (I forget who and can't be bothered to look it up): 'It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.'
My favorite line is the last verse, "We said we'd be together til death do us part, but we said those words with only half our hearts". There are so many stupid divorces going on these days. Half of them are probably because people get married based on emotions, not true love. Real love is a choice, not a feeling. The feelings will come after the choice is made.
when he says "in this life long love song/you can love right you can love wrong/in this love song you can love long/and if you love wrong it doesn't mean love's gone..." that's so beautiful. i know, i'm such a hopeless romantic, and i'm only 14, but i love this song. it's saying that just because love isn't perfect doesn't mean it's not there anymore... it would have to be considered a favorite of mine.
Through the eerie sounds of the guitar to the tender sounds of Isaac's voice, this is just a beautiful song of wonderful lyrics anyone could come to love. It's about how there are no rules when it comes to love and how live is not always something "perfect". This is one of my favourite Hanson songs...
This is my all-time favourite song. My favourite part about it is the violin in the beginning accompanying the guitar, then joined by the piano. It's SUCH a beautiful melody. It makes the hairs of the back of my head get up.
