Ain't Wastin' Time No More Lyrics
Last Sunday morning, the sunshine felt like rain.
Week before, they all seemed the same.
With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize
I still had two strong legs, and even wings to fly.
And oh I, ain't wastin time no more
'Cause time goes by like hurricanes, and faster things.
Lord, lord Miss Sally, why all your cryin'?
Been around here three long days, you're lookin' like you're dyin'.
Just step yourself outside, and look up at the stars above
Go on downtown baby, find somebody to love.
Meanwhile I ain't wastin' time no more
'Cause time goes by like pouring rain, and much faster things.
You don't need no gypsy to tell you why
You can't let one precious day slip by.
Look inside yourself, and if you don't see what you want,
Maybe sometimes then you don't,
But leave your mind alone and just get high.
Well by and by, way after many years have gone,
And all the war freaks die off, leavin' us alone.
We'll raise our children in the peaceful way we can,
It's up to you and me brother
To try and try again.
Well, hear us now, we ain't wastin' time no more
'Cause time goes by like hurricanes
Runnin' after subway trains
Don't forget the pouring rain.

My buddy died Saturday and although we we're not as close as we we're a little over a year ago. It still hurts. 3 years of my house his house or someone elses and he died. Very tough to see his casket go down today at the funeral, really rough.
This song and thinking in general has gotten me through. A combination of things running through my head, but only an hour ago I just realized I have to live my life. And I have parties women drinking whateever. I've done it. But I have to do more and get going. I won't live forever and this really helped me wake up. Realize I gotta do what I gotta do while I'm still here. Really inspirational song to get going, get what you want to do done. Remember your friends but remember what you want and what you feel you have to do before you leave this earth.
Awesome song by Gregg Allman in the spirit of his deceased brother Duane. The best tribute to his late brother was to live every day to it's fullest and turn his band into one of the greatest ever.
This song is definitely in the spirit of Duane's death. This song never gets old.
I love this song. "And the hippies shall inherit the Earth"
Awesome song
One of my favourite songs of all time, I love the way the verses progress, examining his brothers death on an ever bigger scale. The first verse seems to be Gregg coming to terms with Duane's death himself. After this he notices his friends feeling the same way and tells them get on with living their lives. The final verse goes even further talking about creating a better world for everyone. Its an unbelievably positive and inspirational reaction to something so traumatic to someone.

thats a great account man. i can definately see this song helping you through an untimely passing. there is a very reassuring feel you can really relate to in greggs voice
oops didnt really mean for that to be a reply.
This song was this first (I am quite sure) song Greg wrote after Duane died. According to Randy Poes book "Skydog" a bio of Duane, as well as other articles I've read...Duane was a Happening dude. He was on a mission, and had a magnetic personality...Dickey once described Duane as a "Triple Scoprio"..a daredevil on a mission. And according to Greg one of Duanes favorite sayings was "Lets get the show on the road"...he was always on the move and disliked idle time. It is a very heartfelt and beautiful song about...the founding Brother. Rest in Peace
