heeyy could someone please answer about the fucking hanging from your shelf part?? at least 2 other people asked about it and everyone passed on that one.. or is it that everyone is so intrested and worried about river beard that they dont even care about understanding the fucking song cause it looks cute anyway? or is it too hard to type weezer rocks (even when u dont seem to know why cause u cant understand the fucking lyrics) and some explanaition too? cut the whole sht of kissing rivers ass hell probably never read this so dont even boughter.. but i rather talk about the song and clear everiones doubts.. this is not a fuckin forum im getting sick of this shit! anyway i thing it might mean getting it metaphoricly ( is it well writen??) something like hidding like a lobster in a shelf.. like covering herself.. it breaks his heart to see her go to the safe no matter what shes loosin (that would be him i guess) so lets try to focus here i think its veru very cool to have this chance of interpretation and sharing.. lets not fuck the whole thing with cheesy corny useless stufs..

Hey! Just thought I would Share what I thought this song means instead of expressing my love for Rivers, with or without his beard.

I think this is not a sad song, but just an emotional song that has a tiny bit of desperation. He obviously loves her but probably the relationship needs a little change. Who ever it is Rivers is talking about, he can't live without her.

I am not quite sure what the shelf means, probably like what others have said. He hates to see her in an insecure state.

kt_sd, Pinkerton has cussing and sex talk galore. One of the many reasons it's my least favorite of the Weezer albums.

I interpret the "hanging from a shelf" line as in it breaks his heart to see her 'up for grabs', so to speak, instead of with him, as in she is on display in a store or something. He can't stand to think of her in love with someone else so obviously he doesn't like the idea of other guys thinking about having a relationship with her. Since she won't go out with him, she is technically 'on disply' or 'back on the market' or whatever the phrase is. It has NOTHING to do with suicide or hanging somebody.

RE the "It breaks my heart to see you hanging from your shelf" - She has a boyfriend, and it breaks his heart that she's been put away on this shelf where he can't get her. Kinda like in Toy Story when Woody's put on the shelf out of the way.

Incredible lyrics, incredible tune, incredible video, incredibly hot lead man. Not so much now with the beard, though.
