One Of These Nights Lyrics

One of these nights
One of these crazy old nights
We're gonna find out
Pretty mama
What turns on your lights
The full moon is calling
The fever is high
And the wicked wind whispers
And moans
You got your demons
You got desires
Well, I got a few of my own

Oo, someone to be kind to in
Between the dark and the light
Oo, coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
One of these nights

One of these dreams
One of these lost and lonely dreams
We're gonna find one
One that really screams

I've been searching for the daughter
Of the devil himself
I've been searching for an angel in white
I've been waiting for a woman who's a little
Of both
And I can feel her but she's nowhere
In sight

Oo, loneliness will blind you
In between the wrong and the right
Oo, coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
One of these nights

One of these nights
In between the dark and the light
Coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
Get 'ya baby one of these nights
One of these nights
One of these nights
I can feel it
I can feel it
One of these nights
Coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you now

I like the guitar solo by Don Felder after the second verse - it sort of sounds like he's imitating a saxophone solo, and either way he's pretty much kicking some A-S-S

The guy in the song is really horny and he's desperate for a slutty girl.

"The full moon is calling, the fever is high and the wicked wind whispers and moans, you got your demons, you got desires, well, I got a few of my own" -He flat out states his eroticism.

"We're gonna find out pretty mama what turns on your lights" -He's going to have sex with her in many different ways.

"I've been searching for the daughter of the devil himself" -He wants a girl that will satisfy his dirty needs.

"I've been searching for an angel in white, I've been waiting for a woman whose a little of both." -He wants a woman who acts as though she's innocent.

Raunchy song, but I still like it. :)

@Fluffyinsanity Don Henley originally had the lyric "daughter of God" instead of "angel in white" and I'm not sure who talked him out of it - perhaps the producer or another exec saw this tune being a big hit and simply did not want controversy - very cool idea, though - your interp is just fine

He wants to find the perfect someone out there.

Captures the feel of how it can almost hurt.

I think it also has a touch of Irony, because he is looking for this perfect girl out there but will never find her...maybe one of these nights...it will never come...but always seem so close...

Good song.

He's describing his perfect girl (sometimes with contradictions = she's impossible to find/he'll be looking forever) and what he wants to do with her (KINKY!)

His eyes have been set upon this "pretty mama" for some time. He's closing in and the passion is about to explode.

Fluggyinsanity has got it exactly right.

He basically is describing exactly the kind of girl he wants at that exact moment
