Armagideon Time Lyrics
Laid around, done stayed around this old town too long
And it seems like I've got to travel on
A lot of people won't get no supper tonight
A lot of people won't get no justice tonight
The battle is gettin' hotter
In this iration, Armagideon time
A lot of people runnin' and a hiding tonight
A lot of people won't get no justice tonight
Remember to kick it over
No one will guide you - Armagideon time...
And it seems like I've got to travel on
A lot of people won't get no justice tonight
The battle is gettin' hotter
In this iration, Armagideon time
A lot of people won't get no justice tonight
Remember to kick it over
No one will guide you - Armagideon time...

is it true that Strummer yelling "don't push us when we're hot!" (at 3 mins) was due to the producer (or someone) telling them to wrap it up b/c the song was too long?
@tiffany-twisted That line fits so well with my idea of what the song is about. I didn’t realize it was yelled out in response to something having nothing to do with the song. A happy accident!

I'm guessing this is about oppression
Yeah, I heard that too. I think it was Kosmo Vinyl who told them to wrap it up.
i'm pretty sure he says remember to think it over. i thought he said kick it over but i read these other lyrics that said think it over and that makes a tad more sense. regardless a bad ass song
Yeah, it's Kosmo Vinyl. Think the story is in the 'On Broadway' booklet. Kosmo had a notion at the time that songs shouldn't be more than 3 minutes long or something, so can be heard over the studio intercomm telling that band "Alright, times up, let's have you outta there" which is what Strummer responds to.
This is the Clash's cover of a song originally by Reggae artist Junior Murvin.
Ooops. I meant to say Willie Williams did the original. Got this confused with Police and Thieves.

The original does not affirm atheistic nihilism. It says "...remember to praise Jahoviah / and He will guide you / in this iration / it's armagideon..." Dub-master Mikey Dread recorded it with them. I think he is the one who put the dread feeling in the song. I love the cowboy melody at the beginning.
So praise Jahoviah - it's armagideon !
the beginning lyrics are wrong. "Laid around, done stayed around this old town too long and it seems like I've got to travel on" and it's from the Bob Dylan song "Gotta Travel On."
Uh, for heavens sake, not Dylan.

It's a classic that Dylan and many others have covered.
