Alive And Well Lyrics

nows the time
to rearrange your life
live for something
outside of your own mind
we all dream
the same dream everynight
to burn the world that you call civilized

alive and well
i live to be alive
i live to always strive
for something more
alive and well
i'll never understand
the who, what, why or when
of you tonight...

we face the stares of judgement
and almost everyday
the shaking heads
of disapproval say,
"pray for you to give me something then find out that there was nothing left."

recite the words inside (your heart)
realize that this is nothing
without your voice
im not giving up
and ill blame the worst on you
i know whats wrong
alive and well
i live to be alive
i live to always strive
for something more
alive and well
nothing ventured, nothing gained
and I dont need to explain
myself to you.

Personally, I think this song is about activism and the feeling of self-worth it gives you. It also has references to the selfishness and lazyness of the rest of the people.

"Now's the time To rearrange your life Live for something Outside off your own mind"

Like think of the bigger problems. Not just if you should ask Bob out or if you should go to the dentist's about your toothache. This is about uniting to fight for something bigger, and making a difference that will help others, like protesting or only buying Fairtrade things.

'Alive and well I live to be alive I live to always strive For something more'

These are my favourite lyrics. I think this is about the self-worth thing. You'll always have a reason to live as long as you're fighting for something, and until this world is perfect you'll always have something to fight for.

'I'll never understand The who, what, why or when Of you tonight'

To me, this sounds like Tim's questioning why people are selfish. Like he can't understand why they won't cycle the few miles to work instead of driving, or why they buy battery hen eggs.

'We face the stares of judgement And almost everyday The shaking heads Of disapproval say, "pray for you to give me something Then find out that there was nothing else."'

I think this is about people who think that we're just causing a fuss. The last two lines are the people saying that they want to get involved, but they're skeptical. Not sure about that, though. This also seems to be connected to the perjudice that all protesters are drug addicts who can't be bothered to get a job.

'Recite the words inside (your heart) Realize that this is nothing Without your voice I'm not giving up Not giving up Not giving up And I'll blame the worst on you I know what's wrong.'

Again, this is about the laziness and selfishess of people. Tim's disagreeing with them when they say that their voice won't make a difference. Tim's saying he's not going to be defeatist and give up or not try like the people, and if something goes wrong he'll blame them for being that way.

'Alive and well I live to be alive And I live to always strive For something more 'cause I'm alive and well Nothing ventured, nothing gained And I don't need to explain Myself to you'

I've already explained the chorus, but this one's a bit different. "'Cause I'm alive and Well' is Tim saying that he's living proof that activists are normal people, not unemployed junkies, who have just as much place in this world as the rest of the people. 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained' I think this is saying that if you don't do anything audacious then you will never achieve anything, and sometimes you have to pluck up the courage to go agaist authority to do the right thing. 'I don't need to explain myself to you' Is Tim telling the disaproving people that he doesn't need to do right in their eyes, because he isn't conforming to mainstream beleif, he is expressing his OWN beleifs and his OWN morals.

Just saw these guys live last week, AMAZING! SO GOOD! Anyways I don't think the song goes much further than the lyrics. "Alive and Well... Live to always strive" All these words like many punk bands just sayin' "Carpe Diem" Sieze the day... And I hope you all live by it!

I saw them on the FAT Europe tour, I'd been waiting to see them for a while, fucking awesome! I think this song is about the scene. Or being punk. I remember before they opened the set he said "Seeing you guys I know that punk rock is definately alive and well in London!"
