Nothing Special Lyrics

A one-trick pony in a one-horse town
You're feeling lonely and the cable's down
You feel like the only freak in this town
What's wrong with you?
What's wrong with me?
We've got a life of scratching tickets
at the local gas and stop
So suck on another whippit
and hear the brain cells pop
I know I'm nothing special
I know I'm nothing great
I know I'm nothing different
But I just don't feel the same
What's wrong with me?
Can you feel the radiation
dragging your sister down?
You won't feel the alienation
you'll never leave this town
I know I'm nothing special
I know I'm nothing great
I know I'm nothing different
But I just don't feel the same
What's wrong with me?
and I could be happy with less I guess
if they tell me that less is more
They set a place for me at the table
I won't be hungry anymore
I know I'm nothing special
I know I'm nothing great
I know I'm nothing different
But I just don't feel the same
What's wrong with me?

I can't believe no one commented on this song. This is my favorite Local H song. I am from around the area they started out in and have been a fan for a long time. I miss the old scott and joe days. It is sorta funny that there were two guys one left (joe) and scott just grabbed another and it was still local h. This song though really speaks to the suburban youth. I feel exactly as this song says 'I know I'm nothing different, but I just don't feel the same'

I think it's about feeling that you don't have much of a future. Everything's sort of laid out before you and you know that you're going to spend the rest of your life working some dead end nine to five job, scratching lotto tickets in the vain hope that you'll win big and be able to change things.

It's about being stuck in a dead end town with no real future, scratching lottery tickets with the hope you'll win and be able to leave, taking drugs (whippits are the canisters of Nitrous Oxide in whipped cream cans, lots of people suck the gas out of the cans to get a buzz) & generally just growing to accept your own mediocrity. It's quite a bleak song (the whole album is) but very easy to relate to, I know this album helped me through my teenage years.
