Let That Be Enough Lyrics

Wish I had what I needed
To be on my own
Cause I feel so defeated
And I’m feeling alone
And it all seems so helpless
And I have no plans
I’m a plane in the sunset
With no where to land
And all I see
It could never make me happy
And all my sandcastles
Spend their time collapsing

Let me know that you hear me
Let me know your touch
Let me know that you love me
Let that be enough

It’s my birthday tomorrow
No one here could know
I was born this thursday
Twenty-two years ago
And I feel stuck watching history repeating
Oh am I just a kid who knows he’s needy?

Let me know that you hear me
Let me know your touch
Let me know that you love me
Let that be enough

Let me know that you hear me
Let me know your touch
Let me know that you love me
Let that be enough

"That was a really, really tough time for me. Just recording that album was tough. A lot of things didn't go the way we wanted them to. Just a real growing time, maturing time I guess. Being away from home for 3 months and the feeling of not being able to express what I wanted to in music. The feeling that you have these songs inside of you but couldn't get them out was a really tough thing. So ‘Let That Be Enough' was kind of a song of desperation, a calling out to God to be living and active in my life. I wrote the song after lunch, played it for Charlie (Producer Charlie Peacock) and he said ‘that's it' and we recorded it in like the second take. We added background vocals and keys, and that as it. We re-wrote the song "New Way To Be Human" 43 times and recorded it again, and again, and again, and then this one was finished in like 3 hours."-Jon Foreman

You know from a non-christian point of view, which would be mine lol, it takes on another meaning... at least in my own mind... but for me, it's just about feeling alone, and just needing that "special" someone to reach out to you... and that one person can make everything alright... really it's a beautiful song, i'll go even as far to say love song... switchfoot is amazing... and i love them... and i'm glad i'm not closed - minded enough to blow off christian music cause I'd be missing out on some beautiful songs and awesome musicians... music is great and can bring so many people together... anyways that's all... i know you all cared to read that

"The song was written and recorded on the same day. October 21. I was looking out across the waters of my life thinking, ‘Nothing is certain. Anything can happen. But I can't make this on my own. And nothing here can satisfy me.' This is my prayer on the day before my birthday: that Christ's love would be all that I need; that even when things are not the way I would have them, His presence would be enough."- Jon Foreman

Is a very pimp song, helped me many times in sadness to remember God loves me and has not forgotten me.

This is one of my favorite songs ever, and I normally don't like contemporary christian artists...but switchfoot is wonderful. I have since then discovered their other songs and they're a great band.

This song is about being in a downwards spiral... not knowing who you are or what you're doing or if anything is even real. It about that moment in life where everything is questionable and nothing is certain. You need something... Someone... To just reach out and let you know they're there. Because if just ONE thing... if just their presence is all that's certain... than that is enough.

I'll echo what Icas and all the others said about not having thought of it as connected to Christianity when I heard it (on the radio). I had no idea it had anything to do with religion until my searches for the lyrics and the tablature kept leading me to Christian music sites.

It's an amazing, beautiful song, and speaks to the feelings of isolation and yearning that all humans have, the alternating wishes: To find something or someone who will fill that emptiness for us, and to let all we have and all we are and all that is around us soothe the emptiness without filling it. To let that be enough, as it says. Some reach for one of the various religions for either of these wishes, some reach for friends and family, there are as many ways of dealing with it as there are people. Touches right on the core or the pulse of one of the biggest aspects of the human condition. Great stuff.

God is always there for you and there is nothing in your life at all that is insignificant to Him. He cares about every single small detail in your life, and loves you more"than is humanly possible.
