You Got The Silver Lyrics
Hey babe, what's in your eyes?
I saw them flashing like airplane lights
You fill my cup, babe, that's for sure
I must come back for a little more.
You got my heart you got my soul
You got the silver you got the gold
You got the diamonds from the mines
Well that's all right it'll buy some time.
Tell me, honey, what will I do
When I'm hungry and thirsty too
Feeling fooling (and that's for sure)
Just waiting here at your kitchen door?
Hey baby, what's in your eyes
Is that the diamonds from the mines
What's that laughing in your smile?
I don't care, no, I don't care
Hey babe, you got my soul
You got the silver you got the gold
A flash of love just made me blind
I don't care, no, that's no big surprise
I saw them flashing like airplane lights
You fill my cup, babe, that's for sure
I must come back for a little more.
You got the silver you got the gold
You got the diamonds from the mines
When I'm hungry and thirsty too
Feeling fooling (and that's for sure)
Just waiting here at your kitchen door?
Hey baby, what's in your eyes
Is that the diamonds from the mines
What's that laughing in your smile?
I don't care, no, I don't care
You got the silver you got the gold
A flash of love just made me blind

Riverside- You must have a different version of this song, as it is MOST definetely Keith on the album version (Let it Bleed). This song was written for Anita Pallenberg. She worked on the film Performance with Mick and they had an affair during this time. Keith was concerned she would leave him, and he wrote this song for her. That is the primary reason Keith wanted to sing it. Somehow he was able to get over the affair, but he wasn't going to let Mick sing the song.
Keith's first song on lead vocals
pt... I read some of your other posts. Not everything is about heroin. seriously.
it's about his girlfriend.
@the scenic world - unless you've experienced opiate addiction (and I, unfortunately have) it is nearly impossible to grasp just how central a place it holds in the addicted person's life. Having read all of Keith's lyrics I can say with certainty that the twin images of heroin and Anita inform virtually every song he wrote. From what I understand, Keith wrote this song in his Roll's Royce while parked outside the house where Anita and Mick were filming Performance. As to this song specifically, and this is just my opinion, but I've always seen the song as Keith's admission...

Dunno, great lyric though.
it's "What's that FLASHING in your smile?", not laughing.
If there is no hidden meaning, than it is what it is: a Stone meeting a girl and falling in love with her.
I love Keith's singing in this, it is nice and melodic when he sings and powerful and emotional when he shouts at the end. A country ballad gone rock. Beautiful song.
oh yeah, and "feelin' FOOLISH", not foolin'
Fantastic song, but I believe this is sung by Mick Jagger and not Keith Richards. Actually, I am certain it is Mick, I've been listening to the Stones before I was a born and I know Mick when I hear him ; ) Unless their is a different version of this song. I have the strict acoustic one. Still studio though.
Actually this song is sung by Keith - it was the first track he sung through on his own. He wrote it about an ex girlfriend

@RiversideGuitarist They both sang it. Keiths was better IMO.

Yes, this is all Keith.
I've heard there is in fact a version with Mick doing the vocal....but it is VERY tough to come by.
Lyrics? At this stage in the career you have to assume anything Keith wrote had thoughts of Heroin laced within and without it.
Certainly could be Keith talking to his dealer......but let's just hope it was keith talking to his love as earlier noted.
Definately Keith, singing this song.
I've seen this song performed live, and its Keith. He does an awesome job I must say for such a gnarled man,.
