Let It Bleed Lyrics

Well we all need someone to lean on
And if you want it, well you can lean on me
Well, we all need someone we can lean on
And if you want it, well you can lean on me

She said "my breasts, they will always be open
Baby, you can rest your weary head right on me
And there will always be a space in my parking lot
When you need a little coke and sympathy"

Yeah, we all need someone we can dream on
And if you want it, well you can dream on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can cream on
And if you want to, well you can cream on me

I was dreaming of a steel guitar engagement
When you drank my health in scented jasmine tea
You knifed me in my dirty filthy basement
With that jaded faded junkie nurse
Oh, what pleasant company

We all need someone we can feed on
And if you want it, you can feed on me
Take my arm, take my leg
Oh, baby, don't you take my head

We all need someone we can bleed on
And if you want it, baby, you can bleed on me
We all need someone we can bleed on
And if you want it, why don't you bleed on me

Get it on, rider
Get it on, rider
Get it on, rider
You can bleed all over me

Sure, it's about sex and drugs. But there's more to it than that. I think that the message is that you can't get through life alone.

Really great song.

But how the fuck can you not know what cream on means? That obvious!

A little stab at the Beatles' "Let it Be" which came out shortly after. Damn fine song. Dripping with the sarcasm that only the Stones can convey.

@JumpyJack Belated reply copies from a different web site: Quote: ""Let It Be", of course, came first......

I believe that the Beatles and Stones having similarly titled songs was, in this instance, just a coincidence. Of course, there are many parallels between the Beatles and the Stones in the 60's, but most of that was the Stones following in the Beatles' footsteps.

"Let It Be" was the far better song.

"Everything we'd do, the Stones would copy four months later"-John Lennon

I used to think this said "When you need a little cocai- ...sympathy" like he has started to say cocaine, but corrected hismelf.

i always thought that was pretty funny, until I realised those weren't even the actual lyrics.

I think that means to orgasm, ejaculate, or maybe a junkie term...I don't know. I do like this song though =\

Its the Stones. Sex and drugs. Hell yea. I mean, this chick is so into Mick that she'll let him do anything. Even after he shows up to her house with a scagged out nurse and stabs her. Even after that, she says she'll always have her shirt off and be ready for him with a line of yay already busted out. Nice.

@fugitiveinkblot Pretty sure "knifed me in my filthy dirty basement" means butt sex. Question is, is it the girl or the dude talking? Ilana Wexler would be so proud.

It's not about sex on periods! Christ, what the hell is the world coming to? Nobody would write a song about that!

It's about always needing somebody, for whatever reason, be that emotional, sexual, or to talk to. He's offering himself to be all of these things, but maybe without the commitment of a relationship or marriage.

I have a question.

What does "steel guitar engagement"? Does it refer to some kind of music session or is it a slang or something?

The Stones wouldn't write such an obviously (and grossly) sexual song without there being a less dirty meaning underneath. Is this song also about friendship? e.g., coke & sympathy is obviously a reference to cocaine and "comfort", but maybe the line is secretly referring to a time when Keith listened to Mick's complaining over a Coca-Cola. Also the "bleed on", in addition to obviously referring to period sex, apparently also refers to a time Keith played until his fingers bled. I guess he got some on Mick and they thought it would be hilarious to turn that into a song about doing the nasty during shark week.
