I Am Waiting Lyrics

I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah)
I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah)
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere

You can't hold out, you can't hold out
Oh yeah, oh yeah
You can't hold out, you can't hold out
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere

See it come along and
don't know where it's from
Oh, yes you will find out

Well, it happens all the time
It's censored from our minds
You'll find out

Slow or fast, slow or fast
Oh yeah, oh yeah
End at last, end at last
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere

Stand up coming years
and escalation fears
Oh, yes we will find out

Well, like a withered stone
Fears will pierce your bones
You'll find out

Oh we're waiting, oh we're waiting
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh we're waiting, oh we're waiting
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere

Oh we're waiting, oh we're waiting
Oh we're waiting, oh were waiting...

I think this song is about a guy who's waiting for a girl he's in love with to commit, but she's too scared so he's asking if he should go fast or slow and if her fear will "end at least" And so he's waiting...

I just lost a girl to the small town that she's decided to move back to. I want to stick my head in the oven, but I can't 'cause I don't know why...'cause I guess I'll choose living over dying and not getting to love anyone else. But, anyway, aside from that...I've been listening to this song off and on, all day.

I would really like this song to be about a girl (like the guy who posted a similar inkling, before me). But I think it's about yourself. About waiting to see what comes out of yourself when those really trying times come, or as I think Mick put it, "Stand up coming years, escalation fears, oh yes we will find out."

I think it's an incredibly great song. I'm not a great Stones fan, just 'cause I've never really taken the time to be one, but this has got to be one of the great songs out there (by any artist).

And, yes, I came to it by way of Rushmore. That whole soundtrack is great, to me. I think Wes Anderson said that he intentionally went with a whole "British invasion" thing in compiling the song manifest for that movie.

Not to get too far off subject, but my favorite part to that whole movie is when Max climaxes with, "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you! You hurt my feelings. I wrote a hit play!" And then he relinquishes and says, "And I'm in love with you."

I'm in hell. I miss Gina.

I am waiting.

@Bob123abc killing yourself over someone who would leave you is a silly thing. im glad you decided not to kill yourself over your girlfriend leaving. A thing like that really cheapens the act of taking ones own life

Yeah I think it is about getting in a relationship. He is sort of lonely, wants to be in a relationship. not knowing what the other person is thinking, are they sincere, do they like him? then thinking about the imaginary future together, does he want to escalate the situation. should he go slow or fast with this person, when is it going to end,

Somehow the I, you, we is the key to it all whatever it means. The song starts out "I" then is "you" then is "we"

Really??.. weird.

Why is it that with every song meaning i look up there are so many people speculating that it's about a relationship?

I think its simple. He's lonely and waiting for "someone to come out of somewhere" also he can't wait any long, "you cant hold out, you cant hold out"

then he's also thinking whether it will come slow or fast or if it will end or last.

What a great song i can relate.

I think it is about death. We are all waiting for it.

I think this song could be about scoring LSD or some kind of drug. This album came out in 1966 which happened to be when acid was being used by many musicians at the time. The lyrics say "See it come along and don't know where it's from, Oh, yes you will find out Well, it happens all the time It's censored from our minds" You'll find out" that could be suggestive about seeing peers around them using it, it happens all the time without alot of people knowing, at the time acid was just starting to go mainstream. also the real lyrics: "like a winter storm, fears will pierce your bones" and "escalation fears" can be talking about coming up on acid, which is a very anxious and fearful process. Also you always have to wait really long before it hits you. I wouldn't be suprised if this song was influenced by LSD, it sounds like it. Beautiful song.
