Fool To Cry Lyrics
When I come home baby
And I've been working all night long
I put my daughter on my knee, and she say
"Daddy what's wrong?"
I put my head on her shoulder
She whispers in my ear so sweet
You know what she says?
"Daddy you're a fool to cry
You're a fool to cry
And it makes me wonder why."
You know, I got a woman
And she lives in the poor part of town
and I go see her sometimes
And we make love, so fine
I put my head on her shoulder
She says, "Tell me all your troubles."
You know what she says? She says
"Daddy you're a fool to cry
You're a fool to cry
and it makes me wonder why."
Daddy you're a fool to cry
Oh, I love you so much baby
Daddy you're a fool to cry
Daddy you're a fool to cry, yeah
She says, "Daddy you're a fool to cry
You're a fool to cry
And it makes me wonder why."
She says, "Daddy you're a fool to cry
Daddy you're a fool to cry
Daddy you're a fool to cry
Daddy you're a fool to cry
Even my friends say to me sometimes
And make out like I don't understand them
You know what they say?
They say, "Daddy you're a fool to cry
You're a fool to cry
You're a fool to cry
And it makes me wonder why."
I'm a fool baby
I'm a fool baby
I'm a certified fool, now
I want to tell ya
Gotta tell ya, baby
I'm a fool baby
I'm a fool baby
Certified fool for ya, mama, come on
I'm a fool
I'm a fool
I'm a fool
And I've been working all night long
I put my daughter on my knee, and she say
"Daddy what's wrong?"
I put my head on her shoulder

His loved ones are telling him he doesn't need to cry because he is loved by them.
Wow! I can't believe that there aren't more posts on this fantastic song! Mick's vocals are so tender and fragile. It's a very underrated Stone's song.
This is a brilliant song, the stones do it right. The vocals are sweet. I think its about a man, who has the world at his feet, He could have it so much worse. Just like all of us, doesnt matter how right things might be in or lives, everyones gets the blues, but he is loved, and we're still loved!
yeah i think this song is about a guy who is a fool to cry because he has everything he wants but still yea whatever anyways i like this song 70s like
I like this song a lot. It doesn't sound like anything else. Great chill-out song. I think it was in the movie "Beautiful Girls" (which is great by the way).
smtown: beautiful girls was so good! the soundtrack is fantastic. this song is perfect for a snowy night with hot coco or a hot summer night sitting out on the porch. perfect, perfect, perfect!
For me, this song says it all.
I grew up wondering what this song meant... Why were his daughter and lady mocking him by calling him a "fool," particularly when he was sad and crying? But I came here and read a few of your posts and as usual, I get it now. Thank you, posters and thanks, Song Meanings. How lucky we are to have this site!
It makes me think about a depressed guy who has no logical reason to cry but he does it anyway. Nobody can't understand his tears and call him a fool but yet no one seems to care enough to ask why is he doing it. Probably not even he understands his motives to cry ("and it makes me wonders why", he's not only wondering why do they call him a fool, he also wonders "why do I cry?".
