All Mixed Up Lyrics

she shadows me in the mirror
she never leaves on the light
and some things that i say to her
they just don't seem to bite

it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up

she tricks me into thinking
that i can't believe my eyes
that i wait for her forever
but she never does arrive

it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up

she says to leave it to me
and everything will be allright
she says to leave it to me
and everything will be allright

she's always out making pictures
she's always out making scenes
she's always out the window
when it comes to making dreams

it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up

another cover I enjoy! fancy that! i think the soft tone of red house painters goes well with this song.

these parts make my heart ache:

"some things that i say to her / they just don't seem to bite" "i wait for her forever / but she never does arrive" "she says to leave it to me / everything will be allright" "she's always out the window / when it comes to making dreams"

it's all mixed up is an understatement.

catherineks, "she wants his love and devotion, but fails to return it" is exactly the feeling i get from the lyrics, too...

she wants him to commit to her, but she won't return the courtesy. she wants his love and devotion, but fails to return it. a beautiful song.

she says to leave it to me and everything will be allright

this part makes the hairs on my back stick up the music and the way he sings it and everything is just PERFECT. and I did not even know this was a cover until I looked up the lyrics on here.

Yeah, whatever "she" is in this song is not real, it refers to a concept, an idea, not a real person. There are two other "things" in the song other than the singer, the "she" idea and "it". I interpret the "she" idea to mean love, or perhaps the perfect woman/relationship, some thing ethereal at least like that. I think the first line is a very strong reference to Plato's idea of the "shadows in the cave", you can't see the real thing itself, only a poor reflection of it. The final thing then is the "it" which is the singer's experience of love in the real world, and like most people's, "it's all mixed up".

My Interpretation

@sjonnie I'm not sure the song is aiming that way but kinda deep direction nontheless!

@sjonnie I mean it could be, but I can't say I'm certain that's the intent of the author.

I agree, very beautiful.... A perfect chorus for the not so perfect story.

has any one thought that maybe the girl in this song doesn't exist and that she is possibly a figment of his imagination? The girl of his dreams seems so real, it's confusing and getting him all mixed up. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, I do believe i remember the girl in the music video for this song. She strongly resembles what i would call a fairy.

good song. better cover.

I also don't think there's an actual "she", I remember in the video "she" gets ran over by a bus. I wondered if that meant he had given up any hope of ever having "her".

The song is from a movie - Excess Baggage, Alicia Silverstone, Benicio Del Torro, Cristopher Walken ... it's a 90's movie, I enjoyed it, the song really fits it ! "All Mixed Up" that seems to sum up relationships these days, you want one thing, your lady doesn't, it gets all mixed up innit :-)
