Seas Of Cheese Lyrics
When the going gets tough
And the stomach acids flow
The cold wind of conformity
Is nipping at your nose
When some trendy new atrocity
Has brought you to your knees
Come with us we'll sail the
Seas of Cheese
And the stomach acids flow
The cold wind of conformity
Is nipping at your nose
When some trendy new atrocity
Has brought you to your knees
Come with us we'll sail the
Seas of Cheese

Escape. Leave your life and the shit that happens to you and take a break and become wiser -- Sail the Seas of Cheese
It's about the music business bullshit. Les said it himself. This was their first major label album.
Yeah, I can see that. It's abviously about not wanting to conform (which is all music exec seem to want their artists to do). It's saying that they wont conform.
As a more complete explaination, this is the first track on the first major label album. Les is introducing the listener to this new era of sorts for music. also, letting you know that this isnt your average album
i agree with ZzZiff
Definitely about the music industry, but like all Primus songs I think it has a metaphor, as with the other songs on the album it's one about life and specifically in this case about non-conformity.
Primus' first major label, as said above. Pretty much a commentary on the music industry and how seriously the majority of the bands take themselves (who aren't all that shit-hot to be doing so. Les says "let's sail the seas of cheese," saying that they offer cheesy music as an alternative art form.
You can also see this in the Antipop album, his dislike of conforming music style, (duh, Anti-POP) and also, I am the anti-pop i'll run against the frain till the day i drop. what more do you need?
This song is fantastic live, but i can't seem to find the live lyrics here.
