My name is Mud
Not to be confused with Bill or Jack or Pete or Dennis
My name is mud and it's always been
'Cause I'm the most boring sons-a-bitch you've ever seen

I dress in blue-yes navy blue
From head to toe I'm rather drab except my patent shoes
I make 'em shine, well most the time
'Cept today my feet are troddin' on by this friend of mine

Six foort two and rude as hell
I got to get him in the ground before he starts to smell

My name is Mud

My name is Mud,
But call me Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie
That's long for Mud, so I've been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold

I've got my pride, I drink my wine
I'd drink the finest except I haven't earned a dime in several months
Or were it years
The breath on that fat bastard could bring any man to tears

We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat

My name is Mud

General CommentI just want to say that Les Claypool is the best bassplayer of all time. No questions asked.

General CommentBut call me Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie.
    That's long for Mud.

This song rules, and Les... oh my god. Bass was just another part of the band before I listened to this song. This caused the bass to really redeme itself in my eyes.

General CommentWhat a HUGE load of crap.... why have you sent here these messages only to criticize Les? Just go away if you think that Justin, Paul and Flea could be more interesting for you... I should say that Primus and Tool are actually 2 of my favourite bands, but I don't see a single reason for all this mess!

However, My Name Is Mud is a great song, although the meaning is not so clear... can you just imagine about Flea playing with Primus, Justin playing with RHCP and Les playing with Tool!? Think about it =)

General CommentSounds like we need a "Bass-Off"!! I'd like to nominate Fat Mike From NOFX. Listen to "The Decline" or "Glass War" to hear why. Let's not forget John Entwhistle and Jaco Pastorious. They're dead but still.

General CommentYour all fucking Retarded. If you like the song it's obviously about a man that insulted him and how he lives. his name is not literally Mud, it's a way to show that the man called him worthless and good for nothing, so he killed him. Song doesnt have much meaning but even you retards cant figure it in the slightest. and also who cares? they are all good bassists and all kick ass.

General CommentDamn, I hate retards, tehpressman. Let me point out a few things.
1."Flea is a really generic funk style bass player."
You're obviously too ignorant to realize that Flea invented the fast funk slap like he does it. Before he made it fast like that, there was no real fusion between funk and rock. Not to mention the fact that he can stand there and improvise funk slap solos for hours and never run out of original ideas.
    2. "While Danny Carey (I'm assuming you meant Justin or Paul) is good, there isn't anything original to his style, and there sure as hell isn't anything original about Tool in general."
Listen to Schism and then come back and tell me there is nothing original about the bass playing in Tool.
    3. "Maynard James Keenan is an overrated singer, and doesn't even play any instruments."
Maynard plays guitar on the current tour, and has probably done it before. Retard.

General CommentTo me the best bass player is actually Victor Wootin, who plays for Bela Fleck and The Flecktones. If you ever get a chance to hear his version of Amazing Grace, you'll think Les Claypool just started playing/slapping yesterday.
