Wake your mind up, clear your eyes up
Move and rise up before your times up
Clock is ticking, your caught slippin'
Stop to realize, look and listen

Well I guess that's life
When you see a dark road up the way
And I guess that's life
When you gotta roll through anyway
Now don't scream, don't fight
Fear never ever made it go away
Same ghost town as yesterday
Made you feel like love was miles away

Wake your mind up, clear your eyes up
Move and rise up before your times up
Clock is ticking, your caught slippin'
Stop to realize, look and listen

Now those sleepless nights
Thoughts just cloud up my brain
Feeling helpless, repeating the same
Old memories of pain and I wish it would rain, yo
Gimmie starlit skies for dreamland
I know it's really smaller than it seems but when
The pressure gets under my skin
I just want to get out and scream in the wind, yo

The world we're livin in is complicated
The streets that we walk on are dark and jaded
A wandering soul that's filled with hatred
In it is poison, the youth is tainted
Social engineering keeps us separated
Media control is highly overrated
Ignorance is bliss to those uneducated
Listen to the message 'cause it's time we faced it

Wake your mind up, clear your eyes up
Move and rise up before your times up
Clock is ticking, your caught slippin'
Stop to realize, look and listen

I'm controller of my destination
Gotta change my mind to help me break away
The sun creeps over the hillside to shed this light
No man could take away
And I guess that's life
You see a new side from the norm
A new direction and meaning to the form
And the calm in the eye of a storm, yo

Show me a desert that can never be drenched
I'll show you a thirst that can never be quenched
Temptation chronicles, the story of my life
Been spent on a dose of balancing strife
Inspiration it comes and goes
You can bet when it hits, I'm on the phone
Singing to my voice mail trying to get it down
In a sensation of shape shifting sound
You're telling fables to cover up your foibles
From overindulgence on things you find enjoyable
Designed to take my mind away from the truth
Try to make me out to play the sleuth
They want you to think someone's watching you
So they can make up a set of rules for you
I'm just trying to find a path that I can stomach
Just trying to make some sense out from it, unh
Don't stop, don't stop what you got
Don't stop til you find the sweet spot

Wake your mind up, clear your eyes up
Move and rise up before your times up
Clock is ticking, your caught slippin'
Stop to realize, look and listen

I never liked the saying, "Ignorance is bliss." Then Nick added that little clause to it, and it completely changed everything I feel towards people who say it. Educated bliss is so much more difficult to obtain, but so much more perfectly imperfect!

"Ignorance is bliss to those uneducated" is just a redundant add-on to the classic saying...I don't think it should be revolutionizing anyone's perception of the phrase. But whatever does it for ya...

Oh man, the bass riff and the drum part right before the last set of lyrics is fucking amazing. This song is the balls. I wish I could see it live some day. 311 is untouchable, the best ever.

It's "A wandering soul that's filled with hatred" not "A wandering suld". Suld is not a word.

Anyways, this song I think has multiple messages in it and 311 is just saying wake your mind up to some of these pointers.

    For example:

"social engineering keeps us separated media control is highly overrated ignorance is bliss to those uneducated listen to the message cuz it's time we faced it"

311 is saying there a message they want people to hear and wake their mind up to.

My most favorite quote by 311 is in this song though:

"Well I guess that's life when you see a dark road up the way and I guess that's life when you gotta roll through anyway"

Best quote. Even if you see a struggle coming up in your life, you gotta push on through anyway, cuz hey that's life. Then the quote after that talking about how you shouldn't be afraid is pretty good too, but I have no idea what they mean by:

"same ghost town as yesterday made you feel like love was miles away"

    Anyone know?

Zenter that last quote u typed is probably personal to whoever wrote the lyrics. As for "ignorance is bliss to those uneducated," the last part of the saying is crucial to me because Everyone on this Earth is ignorant to an extent.

Philosophers like Socrates were some very intelligent people, yet even Socrates knew he was ignorant of moral truths and true definitions of certain words words (justice, goodness, and beauty) can never be defined b/c they are relative to individuals and cultures... So in a sense adding on "to those uneducated" is crucial to the saying "ignorance is bliss" b/c many philosophers dedicate their lives to fighting their own ignorance which would not be "bliss" in my book.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
