Die Eier Von Satan Lyrics
Die Eier von Satan
Eine halbe Tasse Staubzucker
Ein Viertel Teeloffel Salz
Eine Messerspitze türkisches Haschisch
Ein halbes Pfund Butter
Ein Teeloffel Vanillezucker
Ein halbes Pfund Mehl
Einhundertfünfzig Gramm gemahlene Nüsse
Ein wenig extra Staubzucker
Und keine Eier
In eine Schüssel geben
Butter einrühren
Gemahlene Nüsse zugeben
und den Teig verkneten
Augenballgroße Stücke vom Teig formen
Im Staubzucker wälzen
und sagt die Zauberwörter
Simsalbim bamba saladu saladim
Auf ein gefettetes Backblech legen und
bei zweihundert Grad für fünfzehn Minuten backen
und keine Eier

It is a recipe in german, using references to "the eggs (or balls) of satan".
To me, it is a test. Imagine someone listening to this song for the first time, and thinking "ohh these guys sing about satan and stuff in german, probably leading some nazi revolution" and they are immediately turned off, and label tool as "satan worshipping nazis" or something. The said person would have failed the test. This song to me, tests a persons ability to thnk for themselves, and to think without blindly judging something.
I do imagine the point of this song is about thinking for yourself. But honestly (and sadly) I don't doubt that a good number of Tool kids are pretty fond of this song without knowing the meanings. BECAUSE dude mentions Satan. And I say kids, because honestly if you're a grown fucking adult and say you like a song, without knowing what it's saying or even talking about, you suck some pretty sweaty nuts.

I never paid much attention to Marilyn Manson, but my boyfriend talks about him at length on occasion. I imagine, when Manson hated his fans like he fucking should have, the type of attitude you're talking about is what he was singing about in certain songs.
Well said both of you. I couldn't agree more.

If what you say is true, in that eggs are a German eupheism for balls, the songs is designed, in addition to the obvious part, to say Satan has no balls.

@Makoe I agree with your interpretation except for the focus being on the band. They usually have a larger philosophical picture in mind. As such, I see it as a larger statement of not judging a book by its cover and digging deeper before you apply judgement. Use your analytical skills not just an unthinking emotional snap judgement. Even in messages that sound bad, there could be something more there. Look deeper.

Again, I think we agree on the general concept. I just think the focus isn’t intended for the band itself. Think wider. They are not so self centered to care so much about your perception of themselves. Rather, they want to be your Tool to rethink the ways you process the larger world.
Obviously it's a recipe for hash cookies in German, enough said.
I read the translation, and I think its probably saying how ridiculous Hitlers plans were. How can you have a recipe without eggs? it doesnt work. Well, give me credit here I thought of this while I was stoned.
I like Makoe's theory.
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was just a recipe. Good to know Maynard has a sense of humor.
of course he does. he likes bill hicks, rest his soul.

While I appreciate the translation, I have to say this: These are not the correct words to the song! The lyrics for 'Die Eier von Satan' are in German, and this is a translation for those words. I would like to see the actual German words for the song, and optionally followed by the translation.
Look...guys. Can't someone make a joke without someone over-interpreting it? Die Eier von Satin is about Hash Cookies. The reason they 're referred to as eggs is because they're somewhat spheroid, or shaped like an egg. The humor is derived from the fact that even though they are called "The eggs of Satan" they have no eggs in them. Additional humor is derived from the fact that most of Tool's audience don't know German. Therefore, due to the tone of voice and the fact that it's in German, it sounds kind of "Nazi", so to speak. Images like these are obviously conjured up from seeing footage of Hitler speeches, etc. When one finds out the lyrics are about making cookies "with drugs in them, hence the Satan reference", the joke comes to fruition.
It's as simple as that. I thought it was rather funny. Gee, what is this crazy German lyric about....oh...Cookies! Who woulda thunk!
From not reading the lyrics and listening to the song i though it was 1930's nazi propaganda. Then what i found out the actual lyrics to songs i felt a little played with, but that's the best thing about it. The song is trying to throw your ignorance in front of your face.
This is the perfect example of what Tool means and why it shouldn't be a mainstream band, this song is asking us to think for ourselves and not take things at face value. aka German = Satanism there just cookies man
i think this song is one big joke. I think they realise that Germans have the best language for saying evil shit even if its just a stupid recipe. None of that "non-conformist" -vs- "Conformist" bullshit. HAVE YOU HEARD SOMEONE SPEEK GERMAN LATELY, its awsome. Tool obviously know that, and they obviously know people well try and think of stupid meanings for the song when all it is, is something uni psyche students do in there spare time in order to see peoples reacations. (which is actually quite fun, you should try it) :)
oh yeah on the whole non-conformist thing, dont you non-conformist realise that your just conforming to the non-conformist. Or didnt you know that conforming is a natural reaction to group situations. DUH!!!!
