Come into this night
Here we'll be gone
So far away
From our weak and crumbling lives
Come into this night
When days are done
Lost and astray
In what's vanished from your eyes
What came and distorted your sight
Saw you benighted by your fright
Come into this night
Your plight alone
Carry your weight
You are flawed as all of us
Come into this night
You only home
It's never too late
To repent, suffer the loss
What came and distorted your sight
Saw you benighted by your fright
What came and distorted your sight
Saw you benighted by your fright
Come into this night
When you're able
To undo your deeds
And atone with your lonely soul
Once you're into this night
All minds are stable
Forget all your needs
Lose the grip of all control
Here we'll be gone
So far away
From our weak and crumbling lives
Come into this night
When days are done
Lost and astray
In what's vanished from your eyes
Saw you benighted by your fright
Your plight alone
Carry your weight
You are flawed as all of us
Come into this night
You only home
It's never too late
To repent, suffer the loss
Saw you benighted by your fright
Saw you benighted by your fright
When you're able
To undo your deeds
And atone with your lonely soul
Once you're into this night
All minds are stable
Forget all your needs
Lose the grip of all control

who cares what they are. In the end the song kick ass and so do they. thier its over. i finished it.
This is my one of my 3 favourite tracks by opeth - Benighted, Moonlapse Vertigo and Face of Melinda, on by far my favourite album, Still Life. Apart from the amazing music, the best part about the album is the story - about someone cast out from a certain place and returning for Melinda. Apparantly the album wasnt meant to be anti-religious, but the whole album seems to be about challenging faith to me: "Saw you benighted by your fright" is about letting fears control beliefs, and "You are flawed as all of us" about beliefs protecting her from realising her weaknesses, and in turn taking responsibility for her mistakes. He is asking her to challenger her faith.
My god, this song is amazing.
This song is so relaxing...just puts me at ease. I love listening to this song whenever I'm feeling bad, it just relaxes me from doing anything stupid to someone else or myself.
Yeah, it has that effect on me too.
You said if Filth =]
I fell absolutely in love with Opeth just three days ago, and bought all six of their albums and have listened to them all non-stop since, and so far this is my absolute favorite Opeth song, because, as you all said, it is relaxing. Still black-metal, though, of which I am a huge fan of, and it almost sounds like a really depressing version of a Seals and Crofts song done by a black-metal band. Dirge for November is another awesome song though, and you all should check it out if you liked this one...
Opeth is an incredible band. I fell in love with them about ten years ago, when Blackwater Park came out.

NihilisticIdol: Sorry to burst your bubble, but Opeth is Death metal. Black metal would be along the lines of say, Cradle of Filth. Anyway, I totally agree. I do tend to like opeth's clean acoustic song more then the death metal ones. 'cept Demon of the Fall.
Progressive black death....
