Destruction Preventer Lyrics

I'm at home where my coat's hanging,
I'm a shepherd of raising sun
I believe and trust in my land,
I control, I am in charge of
Everyones future, red button is mine

Miss the times when I was roaring
in the center of all mankind
I said how you should live your life,
I controlled, I was in charge, now
I think the red storm will rise and destroy us all.

Heat in the center, destruction preventer
If you release one, you release 'em all
You can't defend Her, kneel down and surrender
Your end is at hand, wish they saw

If you go and have their way now,
you will never have your choice
Catch a breath of air in your lungs,
it might be your never get to
do it again because this is the end

Yesterday I saw a light, moving fast across the sky
Now I see glow, left and right,
Stars are falling down tonight, I fear...
And the pouring rain, eating my green lawn,
leaving a stain
Never healing back to be the same

Now tell me who won here tonight
The price of winning worthless fight
We'll make the same mistakes again
Unless this is truly the end

Heat in the center, destruction preventer
If you release one, you release them all
You can't defend Her, kneel down and surrender
Your end is at hand, wish they saw

Heat in the center, destruction preventer
If you release one, you release them all
You can't defend Her, kneel down and surrender
Your end is at hand, wish they saw

In Tony's own words from an interview in 2000, "Destruction Preventer: A story from the 80s! I was a kid back then and the cold war between Russia and USA was 'flaming' Deep down, I was a bit afraid what would happen if one of them released even one nuclear missile by accident. So it's is about this feeling I had when I was ten years old. There are some really good parts on it. It's been a show opener here in Finland."

It deals with all forms of destruction that mankind developes such as acid rain " the pouring rain, eating my green lawn, leaving a stain" and nuclear war breaking out mainly between the united states and al qaeda or i'd assume since it was made in 2001. It also seems to focus on experimental military crafts "Yesterday I saw a light, moving fast across the sky Now I see a glow, left and right"

-I think it mainly focuses on the terrrorists and there hatred for the united states "You can't defend Her, kneel down and surrender Your end is at hand, if they blow" her referring to the united states.

he didn't mean acid rain but radioactive fallout, and he wrote it about cold war not about war against terrorism.. also by "Yesterday I saw a light, moving fast across the sky" he means nuclear detonation

I think the title refers to the common justification for Hiroshima, that attacking Japan "normally" would have killed more people than the bomb did.

I personally think it is about the Cold War. The United States was the ruler of the world and from the ashes of WW2 the Soviets rose..

"Miss the times when I was roaring in the center of all mankind I said how they should live their life, I controlled, I was in charge, now I thought the red storm would rise and destroy us all."

I also think the Nuclear theme is self-evident. but not Hiroshima, but the Cold War.

Well, that's an interesting interpretation. I never thought too much about this song though. It seems to put more focus on instruments thatn the other songs. Plus, it's power metal, so I always imagine soem guy with a sword trying to save the day.
