Collide Lyrics
.:: Collide ::.
Open up your box of sunshine
And smile as confetti comes raining down on you
You feel a lot like the good guy, but do you know why
Everything's so blue
Well, love is fire and the coals are barely burning
Cold fills the emptiness that fills this empty place
I taught you the walk but then you ran away from me
And that's not how it's supposed to be
I I collide, with love as an elusive state of mind
I know there's something else it's supposed to be
I, I collide with love as an elusive state of mind
Something's killing me!
Tearful confessions have watered down and broken down
The chance for unrequited love to finally reach its wall
You're waiting for the axe to fall
Can't you see it lying on the ground?
You could be the best one at cleaning up this mess
Be the best one, be the best one, be the best one
And smile as confetti comes raining down on you
You feel a lot like the good guy, but do you know why
Everything's so blue
Cold fills the emptiness that fills this empty place
I taught you the walk but then you ran away from me
And that's not how it's supposed to be
I know there's something else it's supposed to be
I, I collide with love as an elusive state of mind
Something's killing me!
The chance for unrequited love to finally reach its wall
You're waiting for the axe to fall
Can't you see it lying on the ground?
Be the best one, be the best one, be the best one

this song helped me get over alll the troubles in my life. to me it means that we will always be alone because we run from the truth of god.
This song is a good reminder of how easy it is get into "religion" instead of getting into God.
I agree with the above commenters. Does anyone have thoughts on what "You're waiting for the axe to fall, but can't you see it lying on the ground?" means?
It seems obvious now after a year. It's a reference to expecting wrath when what really awaits us is mercy. Seems very clear now, but oh well.

the third verse seems to indicate the preconceived lie that many people have of God's "lightning bolt wrath"- when we sin we think we'll be struck dead. But God's grace transcends logic - we wait for the axe to fall, but it's lying on the ground in God's eyes. He's gracious and compassionate, and full of mercy toward those who have missed the mark and are willing to repent.
