I love this song! Both versions are good, but I really like the slower version of it with only a piano. It's my favorite song by Flaw. Payback is a close second.
This one is easy, if you think about the lyrics in sections, not as a whole (bad pun, I know). The song is about how the singer keeps all his pain and anguish inside himself, to more or less kill his emotions ("Is this helping, I'm growing weaker each day"). By doing so, he's slowly building himself to be stronger by accepting and dealing with the emotions. Also, he doesn't want anyone to try to take his pain from him, hence why "It's mine, it's pure and as decent as I could make myself." He wants his suffering for himself so he can be strong.
The slower version of this song, SpookyWang, is on the last track of the cd. After the last song, One More Time, finishes playing, the slow version of Only the Strong plays after about 2 minutes
Actually, they are originally from Kentucky :) But now they got a new drummer and switched to the name Five.Bolt.Main
Only The Strong I know has to do with the fact that his mom committed suicide when he was young. It's been with him sense and he's got some real issues, but he expresses his pain through music and alcohol abuse. Sad story, but they can make music.
I agree with stupified, very great song, i love the slower version but i love the hardcore as well, great song, not sure what it means exactly though.
This song always gets to me, it makes my eyes water. I have listened to the entire cd all of the way through at least 50 times since I got it, I don't think I'll ever get tired of listening to it. Am pissed off that Flaw will not be on the Kansas City leg of OzzFest, would really like to see them. Hopefully they'll make it to the great midwest soon enough. Peace out people.
I think this song is saying that he finds bliss in ignorance and so he wants to be ignorant, which makes him weak. If you don't know about something, you don't worry about it...but you're weak therefore you won't survive without knowing.
Close second to 'Best I am' for me... haven't heard the slower version though. I'll probably have to download it. Was it live, or did they record it for something?..
