That line is so beautiful. One of my top songs from the ghosts video. It's a sad song but a great awesome one too!
This song is definitely about how some people see him as a 'freak' and how they taunt him. But in reality, they should be scared of their own ignorance.
i think this was his way of saying "fuck you" to the haters. and that he knows very well how he looks. and he knows all the rumors, and he is very sad that he has become a monster in the eyes of many of who used to adore him. it is very sad...

This song was kind of a prototype for Ghosts, which was reworked and written later and is a better song, in my opinion. "Is It Scary" was originally written for the Addams Family show soundtrack, but something didn't work out.
Very poetic , artistic and poignant way of expressing what happened to him with the media.
