Awkward Age Lyrics
Late at night
I can see so clearly
They see right through me
And I know that ten years before
I was the kid at the corner store and I still know
And at that age things are so confusing
And no matter what I tried
I still wound up losing. are things still that confusing?
And at that age, that awkward age
I knew someday that things would change
Have I been thinking too much tonight
When I think of how my life's gone by?
And at that age...
There were things that I never really knew
And I keep hearing my parents say:
"Do as I say, don't say as I do."
What could I do?
I can see so clearly
They see right through me
I was the kid at the corner store and I still know
And at that age things are so confusing
And no matter what I tried
I still wound up losing. are things still that confusing?
And at that age, that awkward age
I knew someday that things would change
When I think of how my life's gone by?
And at that age...
There were things that I never really knew
And I keep hearing my parents say:
"Do as I say, don't say as I do."
What could I do?

i love this song for some unspeakable reason. its so simple, so understated, but it has such a nice harmony and is THE anthem for the adult who had the hard teen years and never really recovered. ltj somehow manage to cover these topics that nobody else ever mentions but that flow in everyone's blood.
It's pretty cool the way they write about angst and depression without being emo.
i like what the other comments say... its just true. this song is the soundtrack for when i write... it just says what it means without all the complications and confusions (ironic since it talks about being confused), and it reminds me of my own parents, who could never make up their minds about what i was and wasn't allowed to do when i was 16
