George Harrison got to the core of human existence with this song. Each person needs to learn the art of dying. Most of us are caught up in the merry go round of materialism. Phil Spector produced this track. He was one of Brian Wilson's heroes. He wrote 'Till I Die' for the Beach Boys. That song explore similar themes to the Art of Dying.
These lyrics and this song blow me away. Second only to My Sweet Lord in my favorite Harrison solo songs.

this is a great song! kind of sinister but thats probably just because it is about dying. George was so insightful, his lyrics can be so deep and true and original. Love it!
Harrison is Fantastic and All Things Must Pass is one great album.
The Art Of Dying is about reincarnation.. Harrison was obviously a big believer in it. Funny he said on a VH1 show that "Its all the same people" Ie all the folks who did such and such in history and those doing it today. Great guy!!!
@nohj Good comment. I think it is close to his best, along with What Is Life and Awaiting On You All. It seems to be underrated though - there were only two stars for it on here before I voted, wtf! I have been playing it in my head over the last week as I entered it in a song contest and it was disturbing that it came near last. As well as the great lyrics, the arrangement and music is epic.
