Got The Life

this is korn's best song and looking at the clip i would say it's about having everything that everyone wants but then not wanting it anymore. e.g munky & david drive the car over a thingy and it crashes and burns, head & fieldy give their car away. so yeah, i always just thought of it as meaning that fame isn't everything that you think it is. and when jon smashes the cameras with the baseball bat is exactly what i would do :)

To me, Jonathan has a conflict with his inner-self. He speaks of something inside, and that's what acts in a rather blithe manner to what he feels. He says, for example:

• Hate, something, sometime, someway, something kick off the front floor. // I'm not OK.
• Mine? Something, inside. // Something inside says:
• I'll never ever follow. // The voice is reluctant to follow God, no matter how things get.
• So give.. me.. some.. thing.. that.. is.. for.. real. // He's asking for directions...
• I'll never ever follow. // His voice says on the inside: "I still won't go there."

The song is about how he is looking for God because his life is destroyed, but there's something inside that is rebellious against following God, albeit his life is a mess. It's an anthem, for sure. The Chorus goes like:

• God paged me, I'll never see the light // God/Christians say that I'm going to hell for what I do.
• Oh, I still see. // It's being sarcastic: "I'm already in hell --I can see quite well."
• God told me, I've already got the life, oh I say... // God offered him 'life', and he's being sarcastic: "Oh, I see/say." as in "Good for you!"

The main meaning of the song is encompassed in the lines: "God paged me / you'll never see the light / who wants to see?"

The song is about JD not being satisfied with life: "Each day I feel so hollow". He wants something more out of life even though he apparently has everything he really needs. "God told me / I've already got the life / Oh, I see"

Great song.

the clip of it is very interesting. they have everything, theyre rich - famous. fame is a poison. maybe sick of it. its once again st. against the industry. getting commercial......

interview with jon: "That's a song baggin' on myself. How everything's always handed to me. How I look up to God and don't want this anymore. Like I want something more out of life than all this. And I've got everything I really need but I sometimes don't like. I don't know how to explain it. I have to let it sit through the songs more to actually get into what I write. I truly know, really, the meanings of the songs almost. That's what I'm getting out of it right now."

hes got more than he can ever want and need but hes looking for something else but is told you got the life already. thats what im thinking
