Didn't I give you everything?
Didn't I take you where you want to be?
Didn't I make you feel just like a queen?
And all that time I thought that I was gettin' somethin' right
Look me in the eye and tell me somethin'
Am I supposed to walk away with nothin'?
Do I convince myself we never happened?
Well I guess I won't be denied
I'm gettin' somethin' right

Lover!
Are you happy now?
Quitter, quitter!

In the coming days the dust will cover
All the evidence of your first lover
I hope wherever you are now you'll wake up
And see just what a mess you made of this
'Cause I'm gettin' somethin' right

Am I gettin' somethin' right?

Lover!
Are you happy now?
Quitter, quitter!

    My Interpretation

I have to throw my hat in with the 'messy breakup' crowd. It sounds like she ended the relationship, even though he thinks he bent over backwards for her. So the chorus refers to her "Lover!", and asks "Are you happy now?". He then accuses her of being a "Quiter!". The whole song, title included, is an accusation against her.

    My Interpretation

This seems to be about a guy who feels deeply betrayed & is now in a very dark headspace after being abandoned by an ex lover. He's slowly unraveling & is now solely focused on making her regret leaving him, hoping to find a way to assure she goes on forever suffering the same darkness that he now drowns in.

Sounds like the break-up with the first girl i loved. I treated her like a goddess and she left me, and led me on an emotional roller-coaster... I love this song and every other Toadies song.

Heh, this song is about a guy loving a girl and giving her everything and she dumps him. He kills the girl in a rage. "AM I suppose to walk away with nothing" he got nothing from the relationship "Lover, Are you happy now, Quitter, Quitter" He just killed her and is still pissed off so he asks her if shes happy now. "In the coming days the dust will cover All the evidence of your first lover" He just buried her Its all right there

i think that molly might have some anger issues! :-/

This song is amazing, and you can really just feel the emotion in his life through whatever he was going through with a girl at the time.

my favorite part of the song is when he says: "and in the coming days the dust will cover all the evidence of your first lover i hope wherever you are now you'll wake up and see just what a mess you made of this im getting something right"

lyrically, its just brilliant. i dont think he killed his girlfriend and buried her becuase he says, "all the evidence of your first lover" not my first lover...what i do think it means is that over time the evidence of the relationship will be buried, however those feelings of how sour it went will remain.

kindof reminds me of one of my ex-girlfriends and how she cheated on me. i hope she will wake up

She quit this relationship, and hooked up with another guy.

This guy killed & buried her man.

    Now he's taunting her.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
