Shame Lyrics
you're gonna walk on home
you're gonna walk alone
you're gonna see this through
don't let them get to you
shame
love is good and love is kind
love is drunk and love is blind
love is good and love is mine
love is drunk all the time
shame
you're gonna walk on home
you're gonna walk alone
you're gonna walk so far
you're gonna wonder who you are
shame
love is good and love is kind
love is good and love is blind
love is good and love is mine
love is good all the time
hello goodbye, you know you made us cry...
you're gonna walk alone
you're gonna see this through
don't let them get to you
love is drunk and love is blind
love is good and love is mine
love is drunk all the time
you're gonna walk alone
you're gonna walk so far
you're gonna wonder who you are
love is good and love is blind
love is good and love is mine
love is good all the time

This song is amazing. Don't let anyone tell you any different if you like this song. This song helped me a few times. It also saved a friend of mine. To me, this song is about walking alone, being rejected... not being understood just because of your "differences" even though everyone's different. However, this song is also uplifting. It's about not giving up. It's about keeping going even though you want to stop so badly. That's why it's such an important song, and often overlooked. If you haven't experienced this kind of thing, you will not like this song. Simple as that. Don't hate on a song just because you can't relate. It could mean the world to someone else.
DRybes, your an asshole
One of the best pumpkins song.
"You're gonna walk on home, you're gonna walk alone, you're gonna walk so far, you're gonna wonder who you are."
its about getting over someone and not knowing your right from your left because at first you feel lost when you loose someone you love-the "shame" part describes the wrongs both you your lost love put on eachother-I think Billy emphasize the "shame" part to try and say there was more bad than good in the relationship. Oh and jancsibohoc your comment is right on the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The lyrics of this song make me think a lot of The Odyssey, maybe that's what this song is about...?
This is a song about Billy's relationship with Courtney Love, which also serves as an analogy to the relationships we may have not only with people we love, but also with the challenges of life, ups and downs, uncertainties, etc.
"Love is drunk all the time". I can see that ;)
When I listened to this song and really thought about the lyrics, I imagined it as someone experiencing suicidal thoughts and running away from an attempt as well as the SHAME that comes with that. At the end when it says "hello, goodbye. You know you really made us cry", I'd interpret that as this person making a successful attempt and the narrator mourning them.
Shame is an excellent "build-up" song...meaning it seems to build up the entire song to some dramatic climax. When the Pumpkins played it live, it was much, much better than the album version, which was already superb in my opinion. The guitar part on the album sounds like it was played slightly out of tune, but live, it just sounded...better.
This is one of my Favorite Pumpkins songs. It shows a lot of regret. Thats what this song to me is about getting over someone and regreting it couldnt have worked out better.
I think it's a great song but a bit too long. It's about drummer Jimmy Chamberlin's firing off the band.
