Der Uberlebende Lyrics
I'm alive and I'm bleeding for everyone
pull me from this mire
hold me till I'm home
I believe in all of me
so I'll always live on
I have seen them
I have watched them all fall
I have been them
I have watched myself crawl
but I'm alive
and I'll be singing for everyone
did you see them
did you watch us all fall
did you save them
no you watched as we died
will you believe in me
because sometimes we never die
pull me from this mire
hold me till I'm home
I believe in all of me
so I'll always live on
I have seen them
I have watched them all fall
I have been them
I have watched myself crawl
but I'm alive
and I'll be singing for everyone
did you see them
did you watch us all fall
did you save them
no you watched as we died
will you believe in me
because sometimes we never die

this was the first song I heard by my dying bride. I still fucking love it.
der überlebende = the Survivor
In a time of crisis everyone is crawling in mire and looses their dignity and pride. however the person is happy to just be alive, as most others have died. no one has helped these persons in their crisis.
Not a bad interpretation, although I'd be surprised if this song's lyrics had a message of such optimism.

Though come to think of it, the music is celebratory in a doomy, sort of way that only My Dying Bride could pull off. :) I guess it probably is about being a survivor amongst many who did not.

"hold me till I'm home" signifies that the person is dying, but it seems he's immortal. However I think it's just metaphorical, so he's really dying but doesn't mind because he believes he'll still be around. Heaven perhaps? In that case "will you believe in me" is him asking the other if they should go to there together. Just my take anyway. Der Uberlebende means something like The Everliving. And yes, it is indeed an awesome song.
Nice!
I think it's about a suicide survivor. He has attempted and in the second verse he ask people if they even cared about the others who died. Realizes that they didn't, he will carry on talking/singing about them, so that they're not forgotten for as long as he lives.
